Gone Elsewhere Leroy Fer

Personally, I'd see Fer as a good fit (with Fleck and Norwood) in the flatter mid 3 that CW continues to try. Him in there would make the midfield more defensively sound and allow Stevens and Baldock/Freeman to get forward to support the front two.

High quality players competing for a place in our team. A bench full of game-changers. Seamless rotation when it’s Satdi-Tuesdi-Frydi.

Oodafortit?

As much as I like Sawyers, I don't think we need him with Morrison and Freeman taking up that spot

I can see Norwood getting dispossessed a lot. Fer has the physicality and skill to protect the ball and keep possession under pressure. Might be a better fit for us in a lot of games in the PL. Ideal in a flatter 3, too.

Not sure how I feel about this link. When I’ve watched him and focused on his individual play over the years he looked very good but if I’m not mistaken he’s been relegated at least three times, each time with a different club.

Unlucky or partly his fault?

Love the pig offering his 'wisdom' about who we sign.

Listen you dolt, you earn the right to sign who you like, it's no different to respect, you have to earn it and we have. As for your lot I should concentrate on making sure you aren't relegated this season, now that would feel like chickens coming home to roost.

I feel like we will need an out and out defensive midfielder at times next and he looks a step up on quality from say paddy McNair.

Odd we hadn’t been interested any earlier in the window though?

It's a no brainer really. He's free and he significantly improves what our midfield offers.

Richard Cadette said we were interested in him back at the start of pre season....

Another exclusive in the Star...it really is a dreadful paper....does anybody still buy it? The reporters that cover us never get any exclusives and have less idea than many on here or other national hacks. It really is tragic that now they simply report stories other journalists put out there.

Often the likes of Shield jusr rehashes stuff from twitter or on here. It's embarassing really. It has gone on all summer and often it is days or weeks old.

I would say that in the days of so much social media coverage that is not a surprise but other local rags even in smaller towns at least get the odd scoop or snippet. Is love to be a Star reporter...just sat scrolling through the internet and stealing stories. If you were submitting reports like you did assignments at a University you'd be thrown off your course. Be nice to one day hear an exclusive or some decent investigative journalism from the Star.

For a newspaper to get exclusives they’d need to have reporters who are part of the fabric of the club, like they used to be. That’s not the case unfortunately and it’s not really the journo’s fault. They just do as they are told I imagine? The model is broken. It used to be a honour to have something published. People even paid for it “the vanity press” it was known as. Nowadays any half-arsed dimwit specialising in shit-wasp fuckwittery can do it. Look! I’m doing it now!🤓

I rate Leroy Fer btw. I also rate Romaine Sawyers. I thought he was excellent when he played for Walsall. We ought to have got him back then.

Of the two I’d rather have Fer because he’s more aggressive and can tackle. Something we lack in midfield (apart from Fleck) I think. But Fer also has great close control.

Seems like it’s a bit late in the day now for this one? But if we could pull it off then brilliant!

It’s a ‘no’ from me. Nothing against Fer as a player, but Rick-thinksheknowseverythingaboutfuckingfootballplayers-y has been singing his praises for a while, and doesn’t need any more encouragement. ;)

(Tunstall Frrrred likes this)
I'm a very disappointing know it all to be honest. I aspire to Reims goalkeeper levels but doubt I'll ever get there... ;) :( 🤔 ;)😩

I'd take get in an instant was the stand out player for Norwich in the prem and totally bossed our midfield when we were playing well single handedly pushing us back with his power and intelligence
Would love Sawyer's too but not sure where he'd fit in

Article if not posted already. Suggests....

We've approached him
He's interested
Wilder wanted to fly him in for talks on Tuesday (yesterday)

Are you Paul Mitchell in disguise... ? 👀 👀 👀 👀 👀 👀 👍 👍 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞 😶 😶 😶 😶

As much as i love Duffy at Utd, and as much as he is entitled to look to secure his and his families financial future, it seems that he and his agent have been looking for a rise in wages when they were more than happy to signa previous contract which included a rise on promotion. Now they want another as the previous is no longer good enough.

CW is bang right with his response here in that he will decide when new contracts are handed out, not the player or his agent.

If MD had got his head down this season and worked hard at trying to get in the team, im sure he would have had every opportunity of getting involvement in games next season and perhaps getting another year offered around December time. Seems to me that they have pushed too early for another deal and CW has laid down the law and told him to go out then and find himself a better deal.

CW had to give that response otherwise everyone and their grandad in the squad could end up knocking on his door wanting to renegotiate their contracts, which they were previously more than happy to sign.

Sees that CW has called their bluffs.

I'd be very happy with this. I said after the 1-0 loss at Swansea this past season that I thought he was the best player I'd seen against us so far. He dominated all 3 of our midfielders all on his own.

Fer plenty of PL experience - relegated with QPR, relegated with Norwich, relegated with Swansea..

Was going to say. There's a lot of love here for a guy that has been relegated 3 times in 4 seasons. The game at the Liberty last season is the only decent game I've seen him have. Looked lazy and disinterested every other time.

Clarke used to be accused of the same mate.......

When you say 'every other time' I'm guessing a handful of times?

Wilder will know his strengths and weaknesses far better than any of us. That should be enough for us all to reserve judgement.

...and we certainly need an injection of height and strength. Gerrimin.

Oh, sorry but Prima Donnas. Prima Fucking Donnas.
Every days a school day. Maybe you can learn about football and not just spelling and grammar......;)

But back on post, yes rather him than Osborne for me.
