Not that he's any good now anyway but it's going to harm his sale value come the end of the season.

Feel for him.

But his signing has to go down as one of the worst pieces of business this club has ever done. Of course that is with the benefit of hindsight, as it now looks like he is going to suffer a second serious injury in 12 months, but what a mistake signing him as turned out to be for him and us.

Calf injury in training yesterday with no one around him. They'll need to see the scans but calves can be very tricky if it's a tear.

A monumental mistake, and a predictable one. Add in what we spent on Done and the pitches and you're looking at close to £4m. Yet that tonight is the best we can put on the pitch, in League One. It's hard to even get your head around the scale of this fuck up. It's spectacular.

Takes some doing to tear the calf with nonone around him. Done for the season probably.

You saying we spent 2 million on Done also? If so, your a fantasist and miles away from the truth

Think it was his calf that kept him out for months last time. This could be career threatening if it's a repeat.

2.5 mill BL & academy pitches
2 mill Brayford
400k Done!

Heartbreaking.

What a set of unimaginably incompetent stupid cunts.

How they thought we could afford such luxuries is beyond me. Like we had nothing to worry about on the pitch. Any non retarded board only spends that sort of money on right backs and new pitches if they've got plenty more to spend on the team. But not at Sheffield United.

To be fair, the pitch will pay for itself soon enough with non football events

And yet people were clamouring for us to re-sign Brayford and Coady?
It's called taking the long-term view (for once). Spend the money once and sign a quality right-back who's easily good enough for the Championship (and maybe beyond) - and a cult figure to boot. Buy cheap - buy twice. Unfortunately it hasn't worked out so far, but I understand the logic.

Coady is younger, would have been cheaper, and plays in a more important position. His resale value was always likely to increase too...

'Quality' right back Brayford was never worth £2m to us and those clamouring for him were wrong. £500k-1m on Coady would've been far more sensible. Signing one right back for that money does not constitute sound long term planning. In League One, it was pure idiocy.
I'm all for long term planning but as long as we're in a desperate state this division, you have to get the balance right, and we haven't, by a long way.

And he would have left, like he did Huddersfield.

True but I still think Coady was worth signing as well as signing Brayford. Especially when you look at how much he ended up going to Udders for.

I'd stick up for Brayford in terms of his form being off. He had a serious injury and hasn't done a proper preseason. Look at the many other players in our squad in the same boat and you will see a decline in performances particularly second half. Flynn and Coutts were none existent second half tonight.

We'd have got a 1.65 million profit if we agreed to sell. Good business. I've got no problem with the club selling players as long as we get high prices and the scouting network is in place to pick up the next bright young things. I wasn't happy with the Murphy fee or the replacement.

It seems like the board are just reacting to fan pressure. There was massive fan pressure to sign Brayford and Sharp and to a lesser extent Done (three decent players admittedly but we paid through the teeth for them),

Supporters also turned against all our sacked managers in recent years. Rarely have McCabe and co resisted what the fans want.

Assuming he wouldn't have chosen Championship football anyway?
