What is Arblaster's 'best'

Year out and no pre-season. Came in when he was needed and didn’t disgrace himself. Pretty commendable if you ask me - let’s hope normal service returns next season.

People liked that he was a United fan but he was also a great example of a modern midfielder. Loads of ball carrying, loads of progressive passes, actially attacking the centre of the pitch. His injury took away United's ability to attack centrally

Him and Hackney were the standout CMs for the first quarter of last season, following an extremely promising run of games in the PL and a fantastic loan at Port Vale.

Pretending he was shit because he came through the academy and is a United fan is bizarre. He wasn't dominating full games, because he was a 21 year old with less than 50 senior appearances

Peck can’t score…..zero composure in front of goal and struggles to even hit the target, noticed he has loads of shots blocked.
Whereas Arblaster had a good habit of coming up with goals…..think he has/ had more power in his shots and he was good at hitting the target.

Also Peck never does killer passes whereas Arblaster could.

Last season I'd agree with this but he's massively improved on those things now. He's scoring more and getting into great positions. But it's the killer pass I think he's really added. He takes way more risks with forward passes and trying to break the lines. He often plays the ball that opens it up in the final 3rd even if it's not the actual assist.

Think he's a wonderful player. Really hope he stays and keeps developing as he is.

Support both.

Peck is first name on team sheet at the moment and Arblaster has the potential to be just as good.

I see so many comments suggesting we need to give him space to get back to his best after such a long injury outage. But what is that? He showed promise pre-injury but nothing more than that and let's face it he's way off the pace at the moment. A year out on loan in league one will determine his future but if we're serious about the rest of this season he's nowhere near the team we can play.

What is this obsession with loaning youngsters out to league one. ?

Arblaster was more creative than Peck. The stats from both players last season back it up.

The difference is Peck has had another year development time and boy has he come on. He’s added forward passes and goals to his game. He’s still developing too, if he was still here next season I think he could realistically target 10+ goal involvements.

If Arblaster hadn’t lost a years development I think you’re spot on, he’d score and create more than Peck as that was more his natural skill set

We are blessed to have 2 top class young midfielders. Different players, but when on top form both equally effective in different ways. Blaster has the ability to take the ball on the turn ghost past people and finish but is slightly lacking athletically. Peck is an enforcer who can run all day and play but can lack composure at times, especially in front of goal.

The biggest problem I think is we do seem to play better with a holding midfielder like Jairo or Phillips in the team so its hard to play both at the same time.

They're completely different players. Peck had the Jairo/Arblaster role under clueless and it didn't go so well. He was the scapegoat but the point stands. Jairo's back from injury and the balance (key word here) looks better. Well knock me down with a feather. If Peck is facing his own goal throughout a game you know he's out of position.

Peck is a box to box type. His physical attributes and mentality are very strong. His passing technique is also very good. I'm not talking about where he passes it, I'm talking about how he passes it. He also has a nice touch and that bit of quality that underscores his pedigree. Nice balance and good dribbling for a central midfielder. To go higher he can work on his third man runs and his composure in front of goal. His shooting between 15-25 yards of goal. I think we can already see some evidence of this, this season. Believe it or not when a player plays higher up the park their involvement in goals increases.

Arblaster had some exceptional technical skills. He'd come deep, take the ball on the half turn and invariably keep the ball notwithstanding the pressure on him - even at Prem level. His press resistance was very high. If he had a modicum of space he would invariably play the ball forwards or carry it through the press with that lovely turn of pace over 5-10 yards he had (you'd also see that when he plays higher, penetrating the other lines). The teams that came to the Lane and pressed us early last season were destroyed and began to sit very deep. It wasn't a mystery Compare and contrast since ...

His future was playing for a team with a lot of top technically astute players. He's the best midfielder I've seen at the Lane for technical aptitude. Sander was similarly underappreciated. He currently plays for Fulham making the game look extremely easy.
