Should the club take £1m for Brayford?

Yes, let's sell brayford and reap the benefit of the players wages being paid from the sale......

Some united fans would turn up to watch paint dry if the paint was red n white... Who can we get anywhere as good as brayford, one player can't make a team, just ask sharpy

..if a Championship club offered it in the summer.

I would vote Yes.

NO !

Firstly, he's worth more than that when he's on form so we would just be "underselling " gain, as usual.

Secondly ...... at the moment we'd be lucky to get that for him and if we did ...... does ANYBODY really seriously imagine even in their wildest dreams that the proceeds would be re-invested in new players ?

Not a chance ...... the funds would be swallowed up in our "bladercoaster" somewhere never to be seen again whilst the Board bleats to us about how much money they've spent ........

Let's not have any Clough retro nostalgia bullshit.

The man was a nutter and he has landed us with half the problems that we currently have. An unfortunate blend of his fathers ego and his mothers football club management ability.

Utter fucking total bollocks. Usual tripe blaming old managers keeping the board out the spotlight. Is it coincidence we keep selling our best players and keep going backwards? We keep changing managers but only one recently has taken us forward from when he started the job.

I don't mind sensible debate about structure of the club, how we move forward or the like but this sort of rot is unfathomable.

Before you start I am not saying Clough wasn't without his mistakes but your synopsis of him is insulting to the job he did. Limited? Maybe. But we are a third division football club in a mess. I don't see a queue of managerial greats beating the door down and his replacement has hardly been a roaring success.

Summed up in this thread about yet again selling a good player and us not investing the money back into the team. Because we never fucking do.

I blame Clough for all the shite he brought and I also blame the board for giving him a decent budget for a league one club and then not going through with any sort of plan, so fuck the board and fuck Nigel Clough.

Nobody was carrying out a sanity check / due diligence what Clough and Brannigan were doing . A level of trust has to be allowed in any business . Also when Clough had got the boot , we all thought that after last season , we just needed the side tweaking with a couple of additions . We now require a complete new side and going to finish around 7th to 12th in the league this season.

Yes Clough and the board have to shoulder some blame , but don't let us forget Adkins whilst we are at it , with the character assisnations.

Rot? Ridiculous and pathetic maybe (see above) but I've never been accused of talking rot before on a message board, not since 1915 anyway.

I'm happy to stand by my comments btw. Clough built up cliques of brown nosers and terrorised players he didn't like. It was his way or no way, this can work with a charismatic leader (Steve Jobs) but with a humourless control freak it is usually bad news, or as you would say Bladesway - a jolly rotten show.

Clough has never achieved anything in years of management, that should've been enough due diligence? He has built foundations but never gone through with it, not surprising with how many shite changes he made. As I say, the board don't come out of this scot free, they gave him the funds, backed him then sacked him which sort of tells us why Adkins is struggling. It's all a clusterfuck.

Fully agree.
We do need to keep our best players.
But what if our best players don't want to stay?
I've no problem with anyone that doesn't want to be here, just get rid. The problem we have, and have had for some time is replacing someone with either similar or better standard, this is what pisses me off more than any player wanting to leave. There are loads of players out there, just what the fuck is our scouting system doing?

There's players out there who many think all we have to do is say "Sheffield United" and these players should automatically sign on the dotted line.
How many reasons can we put together as to why they won't sign for Sheffield United?

1. League One football.
2. Too far from where they're settled.

Proceed....

I don't think they should automatically sign on the dotted line but I do think we should have the upper hand/pulling power or whatever you want to call it when it comes to getting the best players in this league or the league below, it's upto the scouting system to sort this out, not me. I could name a few but there's no point, most have already been mentioned on here anyway.

Sheffield United
League One
We ain't anything special.
Established L1 club with better facilities than most. **
Established L1 club with a hardcore of support that many clubs in higher divisions would love to have. **
Established L1 club. Good luck to the manager and players who can demolish this statement.
Established L1 club. What have we got that other club's are envious of? ** That I haven't already mentioned?

The only other one I can think of is an established league one club that can or should be able to offer more money than any other due to incoming revenue.

Did we think a decade ago that we'd be a well established L1 club?
Imagine coming back from Cardiff City that Good Friday evening and being told that in ten years time, we'll have had five seasons in L1.

Sheffield United. What has happened?

To be honest we would be as well fucking the lot off from Board to Manager to players. I don't think starting from zero we could make a worse job of it than we already have. The club is rotten, from top to bottom. Sacking managers just means we pay someone off to get the next poor bastard in.

It's a soap opera, mate!

It's not good Johnny...I'm just trying to keep the faith. I'm as disappointed as anyone but I have to believe Nigel is on the case (I do believe this), and if not, Ian Holloway is out there. Long drive for him though, he lives just outside Bath, my mate sees him walking his dogs every morning.

Stop beating yourself up boys Adkins is here till Xmas minimum
But I said the same about Clough :)
