Should the club take £1m for Brayford?

Yes. From looking at comments on his performances the general consensus seems to be that he is nowhere near the level he showed when he was on loan. On that basis, I don't think anybody would really be sad to see him go a la Murphy, I think it would be seen as £1m being a significant help in re building the squad.

I would say yes as well...

.... providing the money went into the transfer kitty and not that mysterious black hole called "running the club" that most of our transfer revenue seems to disappear into.

Since when have we ever 're-invested' wisely though?

I can think of one instance in last 40 years, Kendall when we sold Blake in 95/96 and that's it.

..if a Championship club offered it in the summer.

I would vote Yes.

Only one club would come in for him and that would be Burton , if promoted this season.

The figure would be more like £650k to 800k maximum.

With next season looking like a building base from scratch , I would sell .

We need leaders and unfortunately Brayford is not one.

We all love him to bits , and we needed a hero , icon to look up to in these dark days , and Beard was the man.

However we move on , and his standards for whatever reason have fallen . If the money offer is there , sad to say , snatch there hands off.

U TB

This.

I'd say yes, but we'd end up selling him just before the first game, promising to reinvest the money and then just not bothering because the season tickets are 10% cheaper.

Keep him, the money will go to Belgium otherwise ..................

Then again, his sale may be funding the reduction in Season Ticket prices, so "already gone" ... probably

I have a feeling the season ticket prices will be an underlying excuse for all kinds of incompetencies next season.

I remember thinking what a crock of shit, but then soon changed my tune when we replaced a fat lazy waster, with a hard working dog of war in the middle of the park, for all his limitations he was exactly the sort of player that every team needs.

1000% YES.

Or 750k.

Or 500k.

Only after replacing him though, ideally.

We could use the money but you've got to think about the wages he'll be on too, we could free up a lot of room.

We should never have anyone on that sort of money in League One. We shouldn't have a situation where one or two are paid much more than the rest, especially when they're nowhere near justifying it.

I think Brayford himself would probably rather move on now as well. I think he misses Daddy Nigel.

And it also leads to a divided squad having a couple of really high earners who earn considerably more than the rest.

If the board reinvested like the Murphy money - no

We've been unlucky that he's been out so long, so even harder to justify the money spent. He hasn't been spectacular but he's done ok in a poor side whilst coming back from a serious injury. I hope we can get a full season out of him next year and with better players in the team he should be more influential like his 1st spell here.

Here we go.......

Brayford has shown consistently for years he is a good championship full back. There is not a chance we should contemplate selling him.

Brayford would be excellent if our team was any good, but he's suffering from McDonald-itis in that he doesn't look so good because the players around him are just so poor. Sell the other shite and we'll see Brayford back to his next next season (on the right of a back 4 please!)

I've also been disappointed with him, and understand the temptation to cash in, but I'd give him a preseason and reassess then. It was this sort of cash-in-now mentality that saw Blackwell sell Hulse after his very disappointing mid season return. Had we kept him we might have gone up the following year with the sort of season he had at Derby.

We know him to be a good player at his best, a cut above League One.

The question is whether or not he can return to his best or somewhere near it. He's come back from a serious injury and into a poorish team struggling for form and those circumstances provide some mitigation. An injury-free pre-season and the purchase by the club of three or four good players over the summer would provide the ideal circumstances for Brayford to return to form. It's too early to say that it's anything other than a loss of form as opposed to something more permanent and we all know what an asset he is to us when he's on his game and driving forward.

There's no way we should be even thinking of selling him.

He's quite possibly playing worse than most of his teammates at the moment, and that's a damning indictment.
After his performance yesterday (Brayfords), I'd be tempted to stick Flynny at rwb.

we need to keep our best players.. we know brayford is a good player. he came back from a serious injury to be dumped straight into a seriously misfiring team and is expected to resurrect our fortunes .. because he has a beard he seems to get mixed up with someone else. if we got a million for him we'd buy some crocked championship type that used to be good ten years ago on bloated wages that would eat up the fee for selling him. we do this 'all the time'

Sell your best players and this is where we'll stay at best, when will people realise this very simple thing.

He might be out of form but that will be temporary as we all know class is permanent and he is that in this league.

No because as poor as he's been there isn't a chance we would invest the money on better players. If we had a sensible board then yes I'd sell him but as we don't we should keep him

Likekyhood is we will sell him to Burton then start the season with Freeman as first choice right back . That's what we do
