Outgoing? Che Adams

I don't know how genuine the current interest is but if a bid of £2m plus comes now or the January window then he will be sold, we all know this, the club are not going to risk him going for next to nothing as was proved with the Maguire sale.

The rules on young players do to apply so much here has he did not come through our Accademy so we have not spent highly producing him. I am also pretty sure Illkeston have a sell on clause as well.

In this case I'm pretty sure we wouldn't sell for £2m. He's a goal scorer and goal scorers are goal dust (see what I did there?). If we did it would be the height of foolishness.

He's in a different league, so far as potential is concerned, to Walker and Naughton. I'm not going to put a figure on it, because personally I'm not selling at any price, but I would tell any suitors to come back with £10m. Yes, I am serious...

I don't know if your post was aimed at me Pinchy? I accept the reality of having to sell players. It is the lack of honesty that I dislike and the fact that the timing invariably seems last minute with no plan b in place.

I think it is bollocks that players have the power. If you are under contract, we don't have to bend over and comp!y to big clubs like Brighton.

As for not selling for £2million, don't you believe it.

P.s re dishonesty, the day KMsaid Beattie had flu, an employee of the club had already told me that he was in Stoke having a medical.

Well he's in the team tonight. So those conspiracy theories about BT flu etc. were wide of the mark. Frankly, Blades sometimes make me laugh, not all of them, just those that are soooo anxious to jump on a reason to dig at the club that a twatter rumour generated by someone younger than some of my socks, in Monkwearmouth (or where ever he is) gets them hopping mad.

Here's the news though. Between now and Christmas there will be scouts from most PL clubs watching our matches. Sounds scary, but then again, there were scouts watching most of our matches last season as well. In other words, it's no big deal, but scouts watch all the time, even Sunderland (but not defenders obviously).

Stones went for £3m and he's arguably better that Adams?

Not aimed at you, mate. Just general observations.

Beattie, of course, may have had a temperature as well as being at Stoke for a medical. I was having a cup of coffee with Terry Robinson and a football agent, in his office, the day before Beattie was sold, but that's another story.

No, players don't have absolute power but they have far too much for my liking. They can certainly get sunburnt and/or poison the dressing room atmosphere (those two propositions are not linked, by the way).

I don't believe we would sell Ché for £2m. There are no sinister plots going on at The Lane. There are decent and ambitious people there and no shortage of financial clout (hence the recruitment of a manager few believed we could get) doing their damned us to progress our club within the ghastly reality of being in Division Three. That is a big problem and by now a vicious circle.

Yes, I am exposed at last. The size of the apertures are a problem though. Feels like the Grand Canyon ...
Lightening fast reflexes then Pinch?
Good to hear you're all in proportion
Here's to a crayon free shout box this evening

I think I would be more circumspect and take 10% less

You were with Robinson and you shared coffe instead of kicking him in the bollocks?

"Shakes his head".

I think you may mean this on JP's Facebook,

"There was no intent to sell Murphy. We have rejected million pound+ offers all Summer long for Jamie from Championship clubs. We accepted the last offer only when the player in multiple meetings, conversations and in writing made clear his desire to go. You can choose to call us liars, but these are the facts. We do not own the player, we own contractual rights. The value of the contractual rights drops for a number of reasons if you try to keep a player beyond the point when he has requested to go. This is my explanation."

Thanks Cyprus, I read Phipps comment at the time but perhaps I can add to what JP has already said.

Phipps is technically correct, but it's how you interpret the notion of contractual rights. This boils down to services the player provides for the club. As an employee of SUFC the player will be expected to maintain an off field set of behaviour standards that reflect well on the club. Of course, if, as a player, you indulge in certain activities that are viewed as detrimental to the way you're expected to behave and get caught, the club can act to show their displeasure. As for your footballing talents, depending on how good you are you may attract attention for other clubs, some who can pay far larger wages than you currently earn. With that in mind who wouldn't push for a move if at all possible? The answer, if it's within the owning club's wherewithal, is to offer the player an increase in wages provided they extend their existing agreement. Currently we don't seem to fit that part of the equation, so there's an inevitability about a player wanting to move.

I should add, if a player has a couple of years left on his agreement the owning club can play hardball, as much as some poster's appear unwilling to see this as a realistic option. The club can remind the player that he signed an agreement in good faith, but if he continues to play well the club will seriously consider selling the player to a club, at an unspecified date, who are willing to offer an acceptable price for his services. In the meantime the owning club can begin the search for a player to replace the one they'll eventually sell. It's fairly predictable stuff, but there's more than one way to approach this, regardless of Phipps' interpretation.

As for Adams, we either get him to extend his agreement, or we can expect to see him move, quite possibly at his pace and at a time that suits him.

heh.. and to think i corrected puppet from summer 2016 to xmas 2015.. looks like we were both out!!:D

Had a few pints with him on a different occasion. Still got his number in my contacts...

I'm digging a big hole here, aren't I?...

Bumped into one of the McCabes in Windsor . The going rate for Che would be £8m . Sounds crazy , but top clubs will want more english born players , and the money availuable in the premier league , would IMO make him a snip.

Never met the lad , but Adkins is the man to improve him as a rounded footballer , and assist him to learn his trade . Potential needs nuturing and SUFC is the place for him to move his career forward , especially under Adkins . It seems enjoyment is back , in kicking a ball at BDTBL.

Yeah, it's amazing who you see at Legoland, isn't it? :)

A couple of rumours now flying about from the same source on twitter. (no not the usual source culprits), that Newcastle who were scouting Che when we nipped in and signed him, have been rebuffed after making a bid for him

don't shoot the messenger as we all know bollox happens on twitter

Pinchy...the issue for me is not that clubs are attracted to better players but our board's complete inability to hang onto anybody who then drop their knickers for a shilling and a glass of "mothers ruin".
It's the biggest myth in our history, repeated so often that most grow up to accept it as fact.

If I ask for a list out of thousands of candidates, that we've let go for a fee that we've gone on to be proved wrong, you'll struggle to hit 10. And given the number of candidates, you'll be hard pushed to argue that we are any different to other clubs.

The problem we have always had is the quality of investment of our money.

We have reason to (cautiously) hope things might be changing in that regard...
Well, I've backed the current board so far. I've argued for them to get the current manger above all candidates, and they have. And I've had to back the current manager, unbelievably (only 2 months in), from a number of cretins determined to hate everything we do.

Right now you and I are in complete sync. If we met, there'd probably be kisses. And after tonight's win, I'm up for tongues. :)

If we go up we'll have a pint or two and head for the Town Hall steps, eh?

You're on. But remember, when I bare my arse Pinch, it was only a snog that was on offer.

:D

The club don't need to accept a bid. If one is submitted now it's just proves his worth when someone tries to get him on a free in the summer for our compensation claim.
I'm not buying any of this Sunderland or Newcastle interest. It's just fans with an axe to grind trying to cause problems because the wheels haven't fallen off post Murphy.
