Campbell?

Realise I might be swimming against the tide here and of course fitness levels are definitely questionable but its a different game these days .
With 5 subs , half the outfield players only need to last 60 mins , its strange we dont see more players going hell for leather before getting substituted.

Theres little point for those who cant do a full game conserving energy.
Defo see your thought process on that, it's the old "South African Bomb Squad" when their Rugby Union side replaced 5 forwards with some giants, they could only operate over 15-20 minutes but that was the aim, to try and hit the opponents when they were tiring. I would like a change to the Laws of the Game that reduces 5 to 4 outfield players with 1 change held back mandatory for GK replacement. I think 5 subs is too much and has taken the workload off players. Even our "tough preseason" they were only playing 45 mins in most of those games. I get not all are going to be quick but all should be able to run for 90 minutes with a 15 minute break in between. When you look at the distance covered for the players that have played 90 minutes, it isn't a lot anywhere between 5-8 miles and some of that will be walking. Realistically a professional should be able to cover 8 miles over 90 minutes !

Fair enough..i just see extending the contract of someone who's hardly ever managed 90 minutes as shocking decision.
As bad a resigning a player who can also could only do 60 minutes, sho now can’t do 45 as he’s so unfit

I never said he was worth that. I said thats what Transfermarkt values him at

Why do people quote figures from Transfermarkt? Isn't it like looking at valuations on a Fifa game? How then, other than the two parties involved in the deal, can a random website determine a player's valuation?

The subs rule was brought in as another small weight on the scale to the richest clubs. As witnessed first hand when we had the temerity to be winning at spurs so they brought on £150m off the bench against our ‘ok’ first eleven who then tired and were replaced by kids and freebies. The other rule that helped was the adjustment to add on loads more time (12 mins I think in the game I’m referencing) to do as much as possible to give additional advantage to push home the aforementioned benefit of being able to afford a better bench.

Awful decision to bring him on. Donovan should have been out up fronton his own purely to press and harass the defence. Campbell trotted around a bit and did nothing.

He was pretty much through on goal but stopped and let the keeper have it - I'm convinced it was about 70/30 in his favour but he just stopped while the ball trickled towards the onrushing keeper.

We need to get rid in January, he's just not up to it.

Another year and a half left on his contract on good money, who's going to take him.
Another bizarre decision to give him an extra year last summer.

I'd rather bring Ayew on rather than that fat, idle cunt.

Waste of a shirt.

He was incredible for a short spell and he really did have the Pigs in his pocket for a time, but he is a shadow of that player now.

Prove me wrong Tyrese.

I’m pretty sure his contract was extended to three years this summer wasn’t it ?

He must have some pretty compromising photographs of Wilder, Bettis and the board !

Can see us trying to offload him in January, if not end of the season. Hope other teams havnt watched him last 2 seasons mind you.

Pretty sure this is exactly the player stoke had. Was decent when came in then was pretty lazy and went dogger. Then did stuff in very small patches of the season for them, if you look back on the view from, they describe what we are seeing i believe.

Mousett from wish.

This is where Wilder unnecessarily eats into the credit he has.

In what interest of Sheffield United is it short, medium or long term to have Campbell and Ayew on the bench instead of Oné, unless the latter is injured?

Either Campbell is ill and needs to recover away from the lights or he’s well below what is required professionally and shouldn’t be in the team. Either way he isn’t justifying his place and him entering the field is like having 10 (or 9) men.

We can't just get rid mate, the idiots have given him an extended contract! Just have to hope some club out there lose there senses and offer stupid money for him!... let's face it its not happening were stuck with him sadly 😥

I'm still dumb founded that we've given a player who has never completed 90 minutes for us and is unreliable a 3 year contract. This again shows why we need a director of football and take away Wilder’s involvement with recruitment and contracts. We're stuck with him now unless there's performance based clauses in his contract. No one is going to buy him off us. The best we can hope is that someone is as gullible as Sheffield United and will take him on loan.

Watford and Leicester have Director of Football, have they been a success?

At Watford it's hard for a director or football to build a squad for a head coach when they get replaced 3 times a season. As for Leicester they splashed out on some signings but forgot about appointing a decent head coach, but you have a fairer argument with their case.

When he came on last night he simply looked lost, not knowing where to go or what to do.
Do we not have sports science staff who look after a player’s physical AND mental health? Please note I’m not criticising him for his mental heath. It’s just that he looks as though he needs some help and it’s the club’s responsibility to make sure he gets it.
