Just a thought but..... Is this a bid to keep Harry and keep him happy, maybe after Harry found out we rejected Hulls last offer he kicked off maybe because the club told him if they got X he could go and Hull offered X and we still rejected. We then accept the offer today after Hull said they are no longer interest then Harry doesn't blame us for the collapse of the move because we argue that we did accept by put the statement on the OS. Maybe we now know Hull aren't interested anymore so we say we've accepted but they don't close the deal.
 
All i know is i will be frantically searching t'internet for transfer activity non stop now

not bothered harrys gone ,not bothered which bid we accepted and im not fucking arsed where hes gone or if he will take the step up

Im just glad a lad who wanted out has got his wish

goodbye harry good luck at hull if any of there fans youtube videos of you from the two seasons before last they will be wanting there money back

My thoughts exactly. I think time will show us to be the winners in this one.
 
Here's a game: selling our best player bingo. Haven't looked through the read but here goes:

1) money grabber
2) he isn't good enough anyway
3) where's the prince's involvement?
4) can't believe we're now selling our best players to the likes of Hull
5) shit move, he won't even get a game
6) what a poor decision for [insert player]. All well and good moving to [insert club] but I bet you anything we'll be above them in a couple of years

Furthermore, 6 is the most frustrating, naive comment made by any football fan and doesn't make any sense!

Basically, the lad has been loyal for a few years, plied his trade at a lower level playing regularly (which not many youngsters do) has realised we aren't going to be in the premier league soon and taken a good money offer which offers him prem/European football with a good wage. Great deal all round and good luck to the lad I say.

Can't see that happening, generally I think they've purchased wisely especially if you factor in the premium for English players. Snodgrass and Harry would be the only two I think they've over paid on and if Harry manages to surprise me and cement a position next to Davies he'd be worth double instantly.

I've listened very carefully to Nigel's interview. Perhaps a wise thing to do rather than try to interpret partisan website statements as though you were the Rosetta Stone.

One thing is clear, Nigel is both frustrated and disappointed by Maguire. No doubt in my mind that the foolish young man has tried to manipulate a situation and has behaved unprofessionally (on Friday it would appear) You don't stand for that if your name's Clough. Quite right too.

Nigel has not 'lied to the fans' Wiz. If anyone is guilty of a bit of exaggeration and selective sunbathing I suggest we look towards the departing player!

However, what is NC to do in that situation. Say 'no comment' and be accused of keeping us in the dark? Tell the full story whereupon Hull reduce their offer immediately and substantially? Sometimes, in commercial transactions, it's more complicated than simple black or white. NC's duty to us is to manage in the best interests of our club, not to feed an insatiable appetite for news and gossip.

HRH has not fooked off. He remains co-owner of our club and his contractual obligation to invest remains exactly the same. The very capable Jim Phipps is simply doing more of what he did before with a slightly grander title. He is entitled, by the way, to be very disappointed when he reads some of the more emotive nonsense written on here today.
 
There appear to be shenanigans floating in from the Humber on the deal - Some tweets going around that Hull are not in discussions with Harry and have not agreed the revised payment proposal - just that they put in a tentative "what if" is was structured x - then had no intent on completing - just wanted to test the limit of out valuation.

Wouldn't trust that slimy bloke that owns them - nor the people he hires

Good summation Pinchers, think you're right about Harry and Clough. Harry's behaviour, the 'sunstroke', what I suspect may be desperation creeping into Harry and his agent's behaviour, all designed I imagine to test Nigel and the club's resolve.

Nice to have a refresher on the respective postions of the Prince et al too. So let's not point a finger at our manager unless it's deserved, braincell rather than kneejerk is what should be employed.

I never get the idea that players are just helpless puppets in the hands of their agents.

Maguire clearly wants away. He wants to play at a higher level and a lot more money. Who wouldn't. He employs an agent to get him the best deal. His agent won't stay in a job very long if he fails at that.

Did Harry go "Oi Agent, earn you fookin coin and get me a better club" or did the Agent go "Monster Monster Arry, you're getting fahkin peanuts with that lot, which means I can't afford a new motor. You're much better than league 1, l'll get you sweet deal with a premier league side. Cushty."

Does it really matter? When you become a young 3rd division pro footballer and find yourself voted your clubs' player of the year two years in a row, get in the PFA divisional team and are talked about in the papers, you probably get a fair idea you can move on up and earn more money without anyone telling you about it.

While I'd agreed in general that is the role of the agent, he also needs to look at the long game. If Harry isn't going to be playing he'd be much better earning slightly less and playing more, maybe look to a Championship club.
The best deal for the player isn't always the most money and agents should also be educating their clients to that fact.
If he goes to Hull and plays it's a great deal for all concerned, if he doesn't and he's sat on the bench then it's not quite so clever. Alternatively if there weren't any Championship clubs in for him, he could have stayed put and had options at potentially a Championship club when we negotiated, or moved on a free (subject to tribunal) and probably got better suited deal.
 
Personally, though I love Harry, yes I mean love him!!, I think a move to the Premiership at this stage is too early. Depending on the formation, and he would be suited to the "modern" "3 at the back", his youth and lack of pace will likely be exposed severely.

He should stay with us and when we arrive in the Premiership in 2017/18 he will be a seasoned player and Captain Fantastic, a legend in his own city.

Sometimes the wrong move can destroy a player e.g. Slew. Maybe the move suits Clough, who knows?, certainly he has stalled in the transfer market. The clever move would be to sell Harry and loan him back.

Whatever, good luck to Harry Maguire, it's been a pleasure. Always a great pleasure to watch a quality footballer in his formative years. Hope Bruce knows how to handle him and doesn't play him in a high and wide back 4 like we played second half at Wembley - v. Hull funnily enough.

I suppose it depends on what the player wants. You're right that there could be a conflict if the agent is paid on a percentage basis between the short term deal and long term interests.

You could though say that he has family and friends tro advise him about his long term interests. He probably takes more notice of his dad than his agent on stuff like that.
 
In the OS article the open ended quotes are there again. Forgot which thread these were discussed on recently.

Paragraphs 2 & 3 have opening quotation marks but not closing ones. I'm sure I read somewhere that that means it isn't an "official" quote and only parts of the quote is correct OR that a few parts of the statement have been cut up and made into a made up sentence. Anyway.. the final paragraph opens and ends with quotation marks but 2 & 3 don't.

Whilst he remains at Sheffield United he should conduct himself professionally and with proper respect for the club and its management.

Perhaps he, like Diego, thinks he knows better than Nigel Clough?

Indeed and I think the Palestinians amd Israelis should stop fighting each other and realise they all human beings and should live in peace together. However reality doesn't often coincide with noble sentiments.
 

On Sky Sprts they are saying that there is some confusion around the bis and Hull are looking elsewhere.
