Director of Football required for exactly this. Relationships with counter parts across the game, sole intention is to support the manager to move recruitment forward efficiently.

Look at Sunderland, recruited to a DOF and have hit the ground running and built on every transfer with quick decisions for players in specific positions.

We have sold and not replaced, we've then sold again and are short in two areas and this doesn't consider the loaners from last season who have gone back.

Should've covered Souttar as a priority in Jan, this was still a priority atvthe end of May and we have sold Anel since, shambles really.

There must be something in the fact he's not in their squad at all though, would be nice to hear on sunday that he's having a medical, fee agreed under the release clause, would feel like there is an ounce of competence in the board

I have been banging on about a Director of Football for a long time, it's a position that 19 of 20 Premier League clubs had one last season and many Championship clubs have one as well as the majority of clubs throughout Europe have had for years. The problem is Bettis stated publicly last year that we would not be having one, that was under the previous ownership. We now have new owners who are allegedly restructuring/modernising the club and we still haven't got a DoF. But what we still have is Bettis and now he's on the board so while he has got a hole in his arse I don't see us getting a DoF anytime soon.

Different manager and intention to modernise set up will presumably see a DOF or similar role created at some point.

Maybe players don’t want to commit when the new incumbent manager is quoting in national press that he’s under pressure.

I hope its true, looks a proper player, and will be a good fit at right back.

Should we get the rumoured 5 in ill be quietly confident about our season.
Im so skeptical at the moment however...
