Did you not see the Prince interview? When he said he doesn't want people to know the budget... Openly said he wants teams to think we are skint. So maybe we can pay the think end of £40M...? Unless you work in accounts & have ITK info regarding finances..
I said yesterday The Prince will be great at Poker

Warrabaht calling Akpom way before Riffleman, Tom Davies being top of our list but not pushing the button, us being in for 4 more signings (not 3) pre hecky saying the same. Going all in on Hamer coming when loads had doubts, iliman number 10 shirt almost signed sealed and delivered. Akpom deal not being dead on Friday as I knew we were still actively pursuing a bid. All the targets I mention are the ones we are in for whether they come off or not is another thing. ITK 😉
Already Hecky, reign it in, you'll blow your cover 🤣

Sky news now reporting fee of £10 mill agreed, Ajax and Lens. States blades did not value him at that price.

If we were willing to bid £8m then I can see us stretching to £10m, just remains to be seen if we do put a bid in, will surely happen today or tomorrow if we are still interested

Next week is make or break for club re signings (and ITKers) for perms then week after for loans to the wire

Then it would make us being so light yesterday almost inexcusable wouldn’t it, if we’re arguing over nickel and dimes when we had an extra £40m to spend?

It assumes he wants to go to Ajax or Lens of course. If we know he doesn’t then we can sit on our offer and Boro won’t have much choice. If we have £40m not going up £2m at that level also wouldn’t stack up.

Not really no. Takes time to do th "deals" that are right financially for the club. Otherwise we could be like Forest were? And i would hate to be sat in a position they are. I agree that yesterday was a chance of 3pts, & im pissed off too that we missed that opportunity. But id rather take the hit now, & then get the right people for the RIGHT price & be stronger for longer... In all aspects.
BUT
If we don't get a couple in by Friday & he plays that team again then i'll be back & agreeing that you could be right though.

If he’s your managers top target and he’s just scored 29 goals imo £10m should be jumped at. But we owe the Prince an apology don’t forget.
Nixon seemingly adamant this morning we were preparing a bid, I think “did not match Boro’s valuation” is not the same as “won’t match Boro’s valuation”

Still time

Agree if he is truly Hecky’s number 1 choice then we should be matching those bids

That report doesn’t sit right. Surely you receive the bid and report that’s it been accepted. All the reports on Friday were that the Lens bid has been accepted and he’s going there.

Sounds like Boro are still trying to create an auction hoping someone ups the bids.

Wonder why…makes me think the Lens accepted bid was made up or tthe player doesn’t want to go to France.

Maybe United have the ear of Akpom who prefers to stay in the UK and play in the PL…..so we know Boro are playing games and we’re holding firm on 8 million expecting it to be accepted.

Well he won’t play the same team because Hamer will be in for starters but we’re not going to be like Forest are we and spend £250m?
The facts are we have probably 25-30 games that we could realistically expect points from this season. One of those was Saturday another is on Friday. So if we’ve not progressed deals for Doyle in particular when we know he’s an available and roughly how much then it’s unforgivable.

It’s much more likely that we’ve not got a significant budget so we have to make sure every pound counts. That makes sense with the business we’ve done and where we’ve still got huge gaps in the first team never mind squad.

They've probably agreed around 12m and we're unwilling to go beyond 10m - that'd be my guess

But as said, if he's Hecky's top target we should be willing to spend 12m

Especially as worries about resale value are also overblown - if he keeps playing at last seasons level he's worth 10m+ in 2 years time as well

Which is what i said

Don’t believe thee
Hedging his bets. Looks a slim chance of him choosing us over Ajax or Lens. So even if we’re still actively pursuing it rifle can claim ITK if (when) he goes abroad. Rocket can also claim ITK wherever Akpom ends up at this point.

The one who takes the lead is the one who gives us the next name we’ve not yet heard.

If we buy him at £10mil we won't be selling him for the same or higher.

Not necessarily. But if he does well for us for 2, 3 or 4 seasons, so what? Especially if we're still in the PL

Anyway, it's generally a good result for us if we sell for 75% less than what we pay. That's the standard we've set. So it would be quite funny for us to be fixated on resale value - I'm sure we were with Brewster, Berge and McBurnie!

I don't think any of us know the player well enough to know if he is a player who just had a one off those season (which does happen), or if he someone finally realising his talent. From what I heard of him over the years, he was always considered a real talent, but lacked application. Maybe its clicked. But this is where you just got to trust the management, they would have seen plenty of him and have enough contacts you would hope to make a good call on what's gone on over the years. But if they do think he is really the player we saw last year and he is the one Hecky wants, then 10 million is a good price.

I just don't rate him highly at all. If he was going cheapish for like £5mil it's a gamble worth taking. I think at £10mil the money could be better spent.
He’s just scored 28 goals, and has a decent goals per game record in prior seasons, he’s only a year older than Hamer, if we get him for 10-12m and he keeps us up with his goals then it’s worth it, its not always about resale value.

Well that certainly opens the door doesn’t it!

Come on Blades get him in!
wonder if he's existing on England, certainly undercuts Boro's bargaining power if he wont go abroad and we're only English team in for him.... although id still prefer Archer
