I'm saying we don't know whether the club deserve slating for selling Ndiaye/Berge until the end of the window and we can assess whether we have adequately revamped the squad.

The argument take the money now while we can and reinvest it is a flawed one.

Ndiaye only left about a week ago but we've already missed out on at least target because we are seen as a much poorer propostion without him.

It's one thing having the money, but being able to attract the right calbre player is another matter. If you're selling your better players at a time you should be strengthening it inevitably will put players off coming to us.

If Berge left then squad morale would be shattered and destroyed. It already looks low asit is, but selling both IN and SB would likely crush any hopes of a good start - which we desperately need.

I'm usualy optimistic, but I am concerned at this point.

Just to add to this. It would be a massive achievement to have a capable squad ready for Saturday. Saturday just seems to early for us now. Got a feeling it could be an uncomfortable first game

£30m(ish) better off but having spent about £10m and seemingly nothing close to landing before our first game of the season.

And how much harder have we made attracting players for ourselves?
If, as is likely, we lose our first few games how many players are going to want to come here at the end of the window?
The club that's come up lost its 4 best player's from it's promotion season and replaced none of them...

What bothers me most is that we should have been on the front foot with Sander and IIly, and told them we would be selling them and prepare strategies to purchase players to replace them.

instead we’ve let the players and agents dictate the situation, and here we are, scrambling around for players.

I do believe that the money will be reinvested but we need to push the boat out to get the players in.

But we were told N’Diaye only left because it was his boyhood club. Pretty sure Berge isn’t a Burnley fan.

Agree with the sentiment that if it was always the plan to sell before letting him run down his contract then so be it, but this should’ve been done ages ago and he shouldn’t have played in every pre-season friendly.

Basically going for the same amount as O’Brien will cost who can’t get a look in at Forest. What a mess.

It all depends on the larger plan.

Berge isn't a good number 6 at this level in my opinion.

It could well be that the lad Souza is and that part of the agreement is that Burnley sign Berge and move aside to allow United to sign Souza.

Then what United do with the rest of the money would dictate how good a plan it is. The likes of Doyle, O'Brien, Palmer and others coming in and maybe it will make sense.

My main concern would be having a shite midfield against a depleted Palace in a game we can actually hope to win.

But we’re apparently fine selling with no incomings close or replacements lined up.

We’ve bought 3 perm signings in in about 4 years. No chance we get the 5/6 needed not to be a laughing stick in 3 weeks

This really. I think hand on heart we probably all knew this was likely, we're not in a place just to let some of our biggest assets leave on a free. But why leave it so fucking late? We're now scrabbling around, every other club knows it and we'll get completely screwed in negotiations.
