I just thought we’d be attacking this season with the same 11 and trying to scrap by, didn’t think we’d be actively removing any half decent player at all!

Having said this, I really do believe we can get better CMs for the money. He’s been overall pretty underwhelming other than the odd spell here and there for a 20m player. Hamer as mentioned above is a far superior player. Not that we will get him either, just pointing it out.

Every player has a price but the only remote acceptability for this deal (if true of course) is if it allows us to bring in 4 players of PL quality (ie the extra money gets deals over the line).

If it's true and if it's £12 million then take the money rather than watch him walk for nothing next season. I'd 100% let Berge go for 12m. Makes total sense. Especially now Ndiaye has gone, triggering a bigger overhaul than expected.

If Heckingbottom has long term ambitions with us then he must want to sell Berge too.

No, it's not fine to replace Berge with O'brien. We still have Doyle, McAtee and Ndiaye shaped holes in the squad. O'brien maybe replaces Doyle (to a lower standard).

Sell Berge and we have yet another hole we cannot and will not fill

If Berge left then squad morale would be shattered and destroyed. It already looks low asit is, but selling both IN and SB would likely crush any hopes of a good start - which we desperately need.

People need to get realistic.

Our best two players were/are out of contract in a year. We are already aware of that many other players will be entering final years of contracts at the end of this season.

We need to build a squad for now and the future.

The club shouldnt be judged for selling Berge or Ndiaye, its how they use the income and build a squad for this season and beyond.

Yes, but only if he also bought Cole Palmer for the season with him who naturally plays the same position as Sander was last year...(despite being left footed).

No Sharp, Stevens or JOC either.

Not a great loss on the playing side, but it’ll undoubtedly be a loss behind the scenes. Especially Sharp’s influence, which was seemingly significant.

I have the same issue here as Ndiaye. It's not the fact they have left or may leave... it's the pathetic lack of progress on almost all other fronts which then becomes amplified when your best players leave. We are absolutely miles away from being anywhere near ready from a PL season, this squad as now would struggle to get in the Champ play-offs...
