CONFIRMED Berge to Burnley

Just remember, if we sell him for £12m we're still making a paper profit on Berge. He's probably worth around £5m based on amortisation so at least the banks and lenders will be happy with the deal even if the fans are pissed off 😂

It's the timing that's the real pisser here. I can see a lot of the arguments that we can use the money from Ndiaye and Berge sales to strengthen the squad but we'd have been far better off doing so at the beginning of the window. We're in a position now where we're 5 days out from the season and we have lost our best player and may potentially be about to lose our next best as well. If any money is to be reinvested, it needs to be done quickly and to clubs who will clearly have an understanding of our desperation.

Hecky made a huge point of how important these opening games of the season are with 4 out of the first 6 at home. The fact that we're going into the first game of the season much weaker than we were at the end of last season is really amateurish from those at the top of the club.

Of course, Burnley making a move is by no means a done deal. It needs to meet our valuation and also Berge needs to agree personal terms. Reading between the lines of the Prince's interview on SU Way, it suggests to me that we are open to selling. Yes we can reinvest but leaving it this late could be so damaging for the rest of the season. We saw in our relegation season how pivotal a bad start can be, the last thing we need this time round is for confidence to take a battering so early on into the season.

Don't see the point you are making against my post?
I'm emphasising how inconceivable it would be to let one of our best players leave to a premier league rival. What are we going to do with 12 million? who is going to want to come to this club when we currently have a team that would be mid-table in the championship.

We keep Berge, get relegated, he leaves on a free - imagine the uproar - "should have sold him when we could"

No, he isn’t as good as him.

I am all for getting Doyle as a replacement but it’s not happening. We haven’t replaced Illy yet. By all accounts we only put our first bid in for Souza yesterday. This is after we sold illy on Monday AND he was apparently watching us against girona.

Why do people think these players will come to us when we have sold two of our best
Players. Why would they?

If we sell berge before Saturday with no replacements I am out, well I have to take my son but I wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for him

Would we accept losing Berge if it meant we could get Souza and O'Brien.....or even Doyle?

Bear in mind we've already lost Ndiaye, Doyle & McAtee from last season. Berge next?

We've gone miles backwards... we should be bringing those players in without sales.

If we're selling players (and I don't disagree with selling some for future-proofing) they should be in addition to those guys.

I just thought we’d be attacking this season with the same 11 and trying to scrap by, didn’t think we’d be actively removing any half decent player at all!

Having said this, I really do believe we can get better CMs for the money. He’s been overall pretty underwhelming other than the odd spell here and there for a 20m player. Hamer as mentioned above is a far superior player. Not that we will get him either, just pointing it out.

He’ll be replaced with O’Brien who is… fine

Me too mate, that 11 or as close to it. Add the likes of traore etc but they could get into the team over the season. Now starters. It’s bollox

If selling Berge earlier in the window had meant we could keep Ndiaye, I'd be all for it. But now it would just be ridiculous. We have no midfielders for a start, and although he will probably only do it once every 5 games, he's currently our only player who can make something happen.

I think we will have 4 more in by end of this month.

Do you honestly think anyone of them will upgrade on the exits. 4 is no where near enough.

Traore - poor man’s Ndaiye
Slimani - poor man’s Berge
Larauce - squad fill replacement for stevens
Trusty - upgrade on JLT (maybe?)
Doyle - ?
Mcatee - ?
Khadra - ?
Berge - ?
Sharp -?
Fleck - ? Broken leg
mcburnie - out for however long

The squad as it stands would have a battle to stay up in the championship. I’ve never seen a promoted team do this - weaken themselves so completely and claim to still be competing

We are worse across the board at every potion in terms of strength and depth.

I’d be surprised if anyone wants to join a clubs that’s signing up to be pounded week after week.

Nowt like getting behind the team and management!
It's a two way thing though, the management have to give us a bit of believe that we are at least going to give it ago.
Arguably selling our two best players and losing the two loan players and replacing them with young players from the lower European leagues and giving new contracts too Fleck and Osborn Is hardly doing that.
This must be the first time in all my years supporting the Blades that I am not looking forward to the start of the season, I am normally buzzing to get back too the lane.

Think Berge was pretty much the only player who looked good preseason too
Can we just switch places with Leicester now? ☠️

Selling the the best two players at the club, good chance the best young player at the club will be sold also (Jebbo)

We will never change unfortunately

Surely won't happen. Norway coach hates us and is eager for Sander to move to a top club if he wants regular time with the national side. Sander moving to Burnley does not make sense for his international career and tying himself down to a contract with no guarantees of staying up. His eyes will be on leaving free and joining an established Premier league team. Boards choice if we let him have that convo though.

Honestly feels like we’ve just been relegated rather than promoted, what is going on
This, but we have the ridiculous contract situation.

What bothers me most is that we should have been on the front foot with Sander and IIly, and told them we would be selling them and prepare strategies to purchase players to replace them.

instead we’ve let the players and agents dictate the situation, and here we are, scrambling around for players.

I do believe that the money will be reinvested but we need to push the boat out to get the players in.

Are you advocating we sell berge with no replacements in the building?
How do you derive that from my post?

I'm saying we don't know whether the club deserve slating for selling Ndiaye/Berge until the end of the window and we can assess whether we have adequately revamped the squad.
