To think how close we were to being able to sign him..... now he's absolutely off the menu. Shame.
 

Looked like Cannavaro since Carlo came in according to my Everton mate at work. Didn't fully take the comment on board as ant he been playing at full back ?

As a joke though, it's tired. About as funny/fresh as a fax-machine joke these days.
 

Was top top quality at west brom along with harvey barnes could tell they were good enough to step up to the prem.
 
I think he's looked pretty pure for a good few games now. He was dreadful against Chelsea! When we was enquiring at around the 10mil or less mark fair enough. 40m... Nah not for me!
 
Wilder and Knill and Mitchell are excellent judges aren't they?

Even players we don't sign but are clearly monitoring but currently out of favour rise up.

He's just another example.
 
I just think we need to be very careful. Holgate is a decent player, not an outstanding one, imo. £40M for him? Really? The world has gone mad!

Even if we had the money - and I guess we do have the money now - we don't want to be spending that kind of money on those kind of players. I'd suggest we continue to look abroad, to markets where we can get better value for money.

The other thing is to get in early. Because as soon as a player starts being linked with one or more Premier clubs the price shoots up - for no good reason other than they are being linked with one or more Premier clubs.

This kind of thing makes United's acquisition of Berge in January, for a mere £22M, a shrewd bit of business. I know which one of these players I'd rather have - and we've got him!
 
He played a few good games and they gave him a mega new contract. This is why premiership teams are so screwed. I don’t think he would have started for us and been more of a first sub for the back line and in midfield. They put him centre half against Chelsea and he got hammered by Giroud.
 

Seen the link on Twitter. Again, not sure where he plays unless one of Anel / Egan is moving on.
Be a strange loan signing if not.
