There's a patch of unused, underutlised land between Leppings Lane and Penistone Road.
I did say on here a long time ago that the Prince was thinking about moving to a new ground on the old airport site or next to it. He 100% looked into this and it has been the biggest fear of mine while he is in control. If the land for the training ground is in fact up there then hopefully he has forgot about the new ground idea and is going to try and build a training ground on that land instead which would be great news, amazing news in fact.Realistically, the only place where there's an abundance of flat space to build on in Sheffield would be near the old airport, unless we're going for a Concord Park style sloped pitch.
Bournemouth FFS. Keep up.Villa
I did think about the old Castle College grounds at Whirlow but don't think they would be big enough (think there only used to be 2 pitches on the top part, although a walk down the lane there was access to another couple of pitches). Find the Waverley bit a bit strange. Aren't all those new houses there built on a flood plain? There's land up at Whirlow that used to be football pitches, next to HSBC, although it's pretty exposed to the element up there.
If I had to guess I'd go for somewhere between Handsworth and Waverley, there's loads of land earmarked for development and its close to the motorway.
Whirlow geographically is perfect.. your point about the elements is valid but surely there are way around itThere's land up at Whirlow that used to be football pitches, next to HSBC, although it's pretty exposed to the element up there.

I think Wendy were doing something with land around Westfield but were kaboshed by the Council (it was additional to Middlewood and nothing to do with the Middlewood lease). Some great land up around Redmires, also up around Mosborough/Westfield/Hackenthorpe way possibly.
Would like to see us buy the fields on East Bank Rd and get rid of The Earl Marshall.
Failing that, bottom of Norfolk Park?
I'm guessing you mean this bit, on Cross Lane? There's land up at Whirlow that used to be football pitches, next to HSBC, although it's pretty exposed to the element up there.

Shame, would have been nice to see a few pig fans get lost in and around WestfieldI think Wendy were doing something with land around Westfield but were kaboshed by the Council (it was additional to Middlewood and nothing to do with the Middlewood lease).
A bit like the current set up then…There's land up at Whirlow that used to be football pitches, next to HSBC, although it's pretty exposed to the element up there.

That land next to Cross Lane and Hathersage Road, I'm fairly certain, is nothing to do with the house. It's old sports pitches with a ramshackle building of former changing rooms etc. It's been derelict for donkey's years. I've a feeling it's never been developed as there's some stipulation it must be used for sports/recreational type activity. It'd probably be suitable size wise, but there's probably better value elsewhere.I'm guessing you mean this bit, on Cross Lane?
Would be a great site but the folk who own the house in the middle wouldn't ever sell.
The bits on the other side of Hathersage Rd (Whirlow Brook side) would be a good shout as well, nice and flat (ish)
Manchester or some place with a Council that's got a brain cellView attachment 130053

Isn't the only reason they couldn't get the airport because Sheffield Myopic Council own half of it and as they are mainly pig-fans , they refused to sell to us ?Shame they couldn't get the aerodrome, would have been fantastic and also develop what's been an eyesore for years.
Piggy Council own a lot of itWhats the reasoning for the Aerodome falling through?
Price too high? Who are the current owners?
