Will Slav get some money for the next window?

I have to say it astounds me how people can say we have a shit squad!!

Equally how quickly some have turned on the best manager we ever had in Wilder.

We have one of, if not the strongest squads in the Championship and right now the current manager isn’t getting the best from them.

We really don't. We can't even put a first team out that doesn't have glaring weaknesses in it, never mind any depth in the squad. We've got problems in central midfield and all across the back line, and that's with everybody fit (excluding O'Connell who won't play this season).

We have a squad that was formed from League 1 and Championship players.

Wilder worked miracles and took us from the Abyss to the summit. It was a steep learning curve for him and the players and they deserved more loyalty than a lot of so called fans have shown.

Nearly every squad has weaknesses somewhere within it.

Who would you sign that wants to come on the wages that we can afford to strengthen the squad?

I've spent over 20 years living outside of Sheffield
It gives a sense of perspective

Sheffield's a toilet, as small cities go.

As one of the Country's former major cities, it's a fucking disgrace
Sheffield is far from a toilet.

If you set your stall out properly it’s a great city, some people have to move away because they just arn’t up to it.

Wilder was fantastic and did a magnificent job in the first four years.

But there is no doubt in my mind that he completely lost the plot, lost his bottle, lost faith in his ability, lost faith in his system, and worse still allowed his players to see that he'd lost it.

Still, I suppose something had to happen, it wouldn't be Sheffield United if a solution was found and we had plain sailing for a while

Literally no doubt in your mind despite it all being total speculation?

Not a dig at Wilder but a comment on the logic. Would an owner be reluctant to provide more funds to someone whose £100m spend had produced very little worthwhile?

I’d guess the actual transfer value of those players is less than their amortised value in the accounts, suggesting a big big paper loss in future
Don't think it's as bad as you fear and I'd argue that cash in for some of those players outweighs the accounting loss on disposal. I'd guess that if we sold them all now we'd lose £12-15m on book values with at least half of that coming from Brewster, who we'd struggle to get £5m for.

It's also worth pointing out that in a lot of these cases the alternative to taking the paper loss by selling them is to keep hold of them, keep paying the wages and take the amortisation hit until the end of their contract.

Ok clapper
Lots of fans comments on this board even suggested Wilder had had a mental breakdown

If you think he was exactly the same in the six-eight months prior to leaving as he was for the first four seasons, fair enough.

So now your trotting or some smear about a mental breakdown 😂.

I’m out.

People noticed the difference in his attitude and behaviour since before lockdown

And to walk out on a job managing the football club you support, who's owner and fanbase have supported you, and would continue to support you in spite of your weird behaviour suggests something was wrong upstairs with him

He walked out of the job because he and the Prince no longer saw eye to eye on the way forward, in respect of managing the club.Only one winner in that situation, and it’s always the owner.
The owner has got what he wanted now.He is well and truly in charge. Slav has the coaching role and Van Winkle is in charge of players coming in, and out.Going well isn’t it?

I keep saying this, that Slav is just papering over the cracks at the moment, hopefully till the JTW comes along, if he's still papering over the cracks after that, then we're in big trouble. UTB

If he wasn’t a foreigner our fans would give him time I think, but because he talks a bit funny and isn’t Wilder I’m now seeing our “fans” crying for him out all over the place. It’s pathetic, have we really become a set of such entitled fans that we don’t even give our managers 20 games?
