The idea that our current owners and leadership would implement it effectively is, in my view, equally insane.

I don’t understand the assumption that very successful businessmen wouldn’t learn from past mistakes. Because all the very successful businessmen I’ve ever worked with have done exactly that.

I wouldn't say I'm his most adoring fan, particularly not in his second and third stint, but I don't think you can argue with some of your points - regardless of which side of the fence you currently sit.

Considering the restrictions during the transfer window, again I don't think you can argue that he has done ok, we needed some more experience, Donovan aside, players brought in have a proven track record in the division (and some in the PL). I'm even cautiously optimistic that Ayew can make a valuable contribution this season. I am leaning into the idea that perhaps most of his detractors don't have a high footballing intelligence - that's in no way meant to be disrespectful to anyone either. We all watch and follow the game for different reasons.

Anyway, I digress. With Wilder at the helm I'm confident we won't ever be in real danger of dropping out of the Championship, and probably be in the mix most seasons. This year has just been a 'ripping off the band aid' season. Seems like the owners have decided to just get the financial situation reined in in one swoop. Hopefully means we will have a bit more room to manoeuvre next year. A lot of players out of contract too, I haven't checked who but hopefully a good chance to clear out some of the high earning plodders.

I really want to agree with this as it is logical but their decisions don’t really seem to be improving over time. If they were to say - we’re done so we’re putting in the minimum possible whist we offload the club then their position would make more sense to me but they aren’t saying that, at least in public.

That's the culture that people talk about.

Any club hoping to achieve anything positive need committed players pulling in the same direction with a good team spirit and putting a proper shift in.

A lot of people are thinking that recent events are pointing to them either getting out or surrendering a large stake in us.
They wouldn't openly say we're not putting any more money in etc, as I would imagine that would encourage a lowball offer. If something does occur I think they'd keep a percentage of the club, just in case.

I do hope they find someone (or group) to dig us out of the doo doo. Don’t like accepting what we are seeing on the pitch as being the standard we can expect for the foreseeable. Not sure what the problem would be in saying we’re just ticking the club over as it is painfully obvious.

The problem is that if a billionaire took over, he/she wouldn't be able to just shovel money into the team.
The solution is to increase the revenues, which, in theory, you don't need a billionaire for. You need clever people who can attract big sponsorship deals, which enable you to increase spending on the team.
Hopefully then you have a good manager who assembles a team that can get promoted, which brings the riches of the Premier League, which enables you to get better sponsorship deals etc and so on.
