Breaking the policy to allow a player to play after refusing a new contract offer
You're making this up though aren't you? There's some policy is there? Or some shit about George Hirst which isn't relevant. Where do you rank us in the Academy Weakness league then? You know, out of interest?

Wasnt aware that Wilder and SJ wanted him in the 1st team, who told you that?
If i tell you who, you’ll be able to work out whose told me all the other stuff and I don’t want to get this person in trouble so you’ll just have to trust me. SJ brought him to spain when those high up at the club froze him out then told him he couldn’t play in the friendlies which would piss me off as a manager, someone above me telling me how to manage. If/when SJ steps in you’ll find that ndiaye will start for us

Dad to Lad

"I've listened to them all son. Reviewed all the offers"
"I want you to sign scholarship forms at Sheffield United's Academy son. They are strong not weak."
"What do you mean Dad, not weak?"
"Because they won't let their own kids play in the U23s son"
"If they did play 'em, that would be showing weakness"

"SorryWhatPardon?"

“I’ve been reading that they won’t let that N’Diaye play because he won’t sign a new contract dad?”
“That’s what strong clubs do son”
“But what if I feel like I need to move on for the best thing in my career at the age 21/22 and they won’t let me play for a year, potentially ruining my career all because I won’t sign a new contract for a multitude of reasons?”
“They’re a strong club son. Sign up”

That was my reply to your comment "Strong Academies play their best prospects."

As for refusing to play another kid in the u23s, other Academies do the same and George Hirst hardly played for a season after his dad advised him to refuse the new contract offer.
That doesn’t make it right. If anything, if Wednesday did it, it makes it the wrong thing to do.

Surely the employees of the clubs should act in the best interests of the club.

We have a midfield who scored one goal from open play last season and have started in a similar vein this season.

We have a kid who was top scorer in the U23s last season and is an attacking midfielder.

I'd like to understand what is in the best interest of Sheffield United by not including him as a group.

There is nothing strong in my opinion about bullying a kid when we've already shown it's fine for a senior player to not resign and still get picked.

Him playing gives us an option and it retains or even enhances his value.

It's all well hanging on to some archaic notion of principle but where does that actually get you? It's the same principle that saw Deane and Fjortoft leave on the same day because Charles Green "could go back on my word when I'd already agreed to sell him to Barnsley". I couldn't have given a damn about breaking his word to Barnsley. At the time he gave it he had no idea Deane was going to be poached.

Same here, is being principled by not playing him in the best interest of Sheffield United Football Club?

It's not. He's under contract. Play him. If he starts getting chances and doing well, he'll deserve a better contract. If he is asking far too much at that point then you can sell him for a good fee. It doesn't mean we have to offer a contract we can't afford but no reason to ostracize him.

Club staff should always act in the best interest of Sheffield United and overcome being irked by the fact he may not like the current deal on offer. Let him show he's worth better.

With the performance of the current players I don't feel we should be cutting our nose to spite our face when we may very well have a viable option on our doorstep whilst at the same time contemplating offering decent wages to a 35 year old.

It's an extremely small-minded, petty approach and if I was in charge I'd be raking over the coals those that are showing the club in such a dim light. This does far more damage to our reputation of handling young players than giving him a chance to earn an enhanced deal. Playing him isn't week. It's normal. He's a current employed member of the club.

I still don’t get why we’re worried and not playing him in any team because he hasn’t signed a new contract when he’s got another 3 years to run on his existing contract? It’s laughable what’s happening at this club at the moment, it truly is.

It’s a very big week for the club and they have to deliver otherwise it really could go tits up even further.

I thought he’d not been training with us? If that’s the case how does SJ know whether he’s any good?

Silent Blade
Have I understood your point correctly?

We hold an Academy players registration until he is aged 24, even if he is not under contract to us, and he can't sign & play for another club, even though he is not under contract to us.

Have I understood that as your point?

If so, could you link me or point me to the very specific regulation where that is made clear. Because I can't find it. Cheers.
