One of three things is happening here. Either contract talks are progressing, or SJ has stepped in or this is two fingers up at the board from SJ
Box 3 please. I expect the team Manager to Manage the team.

If he's any good and on our books, then he should be playing it's that simple.

If it's brinkmanship whilst we are trying to sign new midfielders from elsewhere that makes no sense either.

Play him, and if he's any good give him a decent contract, if he isn't then bin him off.

It seems really simple to me. If it's taken SJ to bring some sense to it all, then well done him. 👍👍👍👍

What did everyone think of him. I thought he looked excellent in possession. The only one who could run with the ball and actually have full control and an end product

Looked alright, contributed more than Burke did. He was wide open for a pass from freeman (he instead tried to pick out sharp).

On that very brief showing he is probably our best option on the RW ish role he was playing. I still think we need to bring someone in for that position but he should be in and around the first team squad.

Why would the board be involved in the fine detail of how the academy picks a team?
Surely, apart from ensuring that the legally required policies for running an Academy are in place, the administration of an Academy is down to its Head Honcho?

Because he didn’t sign the contract so they basically instructed all the managers at the club not to pick him and he was frozen out. Looks like there’s been a compromise though now

His best role is the didzy role or the duffy role. Do not be surprised to seem him start soon

From reading the last few pages...

Our current manager and previous manager both wanted this kid in the first team this season.

The coaches / development team think the kid is one of the most talented players the development side has seen in recent years.

The player himself wants to stay, wants to play football and is asking for a wage nowhere near what our first team players will be on.

Despite the current manager wanting this player in the first team, the previous manager wanting the player in the first team.... The board are unwilling to offer him a deal that would even put him near the wages of our squad fillers and are now telling all the squad managers to not pick him because he won't sign a contract for peanuts?

If the above is all true then the club is clearly crazy. Like with most things I'd guess that there's two sides to every story and the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle.

Looked sparky, decent movement without the ball, knows how to find space, good touch, first time I’ve seen him live and he wasn’t on for long, so a small sample size, but it’s a ‘yes’ from me.

We have to factor in that the Derby made 8 changes tonight and so we we were not playing a Championship standard team in much the same we didn't play a Championship standard team.

He looked neat and tidy in the 30 minutes he got and it might be interesting to see him off the bench in a few games. If he's really keen on lots of football a loan move might be a good idea

Haven't seen enough of the young players who were involved last tonight to have much of an opinion on how good they are / aren't. I was really impressed with the attitude of Lopata and Ndiaye in particular though. Both looked like 'winners'. Lopata bollocked Robinson when he thought he'd given him a bad pass and Ndiaye clattered their keeper when he caught a cross. Little things but I thought they showed that they weren't phased by playing with the first team which is a very positive sign.

Robinson was a liability last night and I am not surprised Lopata were pissed off with him.

Looked to play well with Billy. Looking for each other like they should. Refreshing change.

Running the width of the pitch and sliding in to celebrate with billy he didn’t look like a player wanting away which is good. I hope we start to see more of him

One thing I noticed straight away was there seemed to be a bond between Iliman and Billy, both came on with the same up for it attitude. Saw Iliman clap Billy and vice versa, when either did something positive.

From what I saw yesterday, the lad gets in the squad Satdeh and hopefully gets some playing time. I think this lad could become a key player for us this season, got a hunger about him after getting a taste last season.

There was a noticeable connection with him and mousset for the 23’s as well at the time I thought it was due to them both being french lads away from home but maybe it’s something innate to ndiaye’s game. It’s certainly a good sign for a link player like him

Any lack of experience he has is more than made up for in attitude. I think he's in with a good shout.
