Burnley's owners are US investors who have saddled the club with debt. Their decisions will be based solely on Premier League survival. Wilder would be a major risk to them. They'd be much more comfortable trying to get a proven commodity.
Big Sam is more likely than Chris I’m afraid, he’ll still be considered a safer pair of hands.
Still think Chris to Sunderland ticks all the boxes. After us (due to the affinity) it’s his best chance to build something which could survive at PL level.

yes would agree with you there bob especially after yesterdays result i very much doubt chris will be offered a premier league job and hate saying it but think championship or league 1 is his level outside bet may be rotherham if warne packs it in

Agree....the media (and people) these days want to put people in boxes.

He’s ex Sheffield United (and a big fan), northern accent, big no nonsense personality, great motivator, players are organised and work hard,
many pundits (lazily) say Wilder plays route 1 long ball stuff........so he’s been put in the Neil Warnock box.

There was no rush by a single PL club to appoint Warnock and I think it will be exactly the same with Wilder.
The fans would great his appointment in the same way as us appointing Appleton or the Crowley brothers.
He’s seen as a 1 hit wonder but doesn’t really register in the management world.....has no longevity and little experience of top league football.

I really believe West Brom (decent sized club with realistic ambitions of promotion) is the best offer Wilder will receive or can expect to receive.

We were very route one at times under Wilder this season. But last season some of the football was genuinely fantastic. Will never forget being sat amongst the Spurs fans at their place & their amazement at how good we were. Absolutely played them off the park for spells.

"Is that their facking centre half at our byline again?"

Those were the days my friend.

I just don’t see Rotherham having the spending potential he knows he needs.
He could take the same principles he instilled in us to Sunderland and really build some momentum, and once they get back to the Championship with an under control wagebill and an established settled side they’d be in a really strong position. Easily the biggest draw in that league, which he could build again.

If he's got any sense then CW would be all over 'Sunlun' if the opportunity to manage then came up soon. Genuinely a very very big historic club with large fan base which is in the doldrums and just waiting to take off again with the right man in charge.

Whoever gets it right there (and someone will soon I think) will be a genuine hero to the Mackems. Renaissance of a proper football club in the lower leagues....

He would do a very good job at WBA I think, but he would probably not have the run of the club like he had at SUFC and probably like he would have with the Mackems. Its got CW written all over it that job.

Was hoping something was close, this kind of suggests slightly different, yes its Nicko however:

I think Sunderland would be perfect for him.
He can probably have his demands met by Sunderland as they are desperate to get out of L1 so would bend over backwards to get CW. Full hands on over recruitment etc.

Wbrom wouldnt give CW full control over those aspects.

Only probs with Sunderland now is that they’re not owned by wealthy owners, so he’d face budget restrictions far far worse than he walked out on us for.

I reckon a lot of what you say is how it was Bladey I think most of us thought Wilder could walk on waterTurned out he is human and makes mistakes.
The big mistake in my opinion was Brewster ( not blaming Brewster or getting on his back) to spend big bucks on a novice did seem a bit over the top with our budget being stretched to the limit by signing him.
Although Joc wasnt at that point ruled out for the season there was every chance he could be and subsequently he was.
We were left with a dearth of quality in midfield with 6 strikers who were starved of ammunition to score goals + a gaping hole in our game plan with joc out for the season..
Yes Wilder got it wrong and naturally the prince wernt happy ! .not surprising really.
JOC’s injury was there last season clear to see
After the restart in June July
He was struggling Wolves first game of this season and we took a massive risk with him and we should have done better
We managed this situation and the player very badly IMO

I, for one, would find it extremely funny if CW did a Bobby Ewing and stepped out of the shower ................

I'm sure an appointment will be confirmed soon now that the season has finished - I can certainly understand why the club chose not to appoint before now.

I have to say, I have been incredibly impressed by how PH conducted himself in his role as caretaker. He's somehow managed to get improvement and several results out of a squad that looked both clueless and as though they didn't want to be there during the Leicester (away) game. Whether or not he actually wants the top job I suppose we'll never really know, although I hope he does stay at the club - he's done a great job with the youngsters as well!

It was a clusterfuck 4 weeks ago.....it’s still a clusterfuck.
We have an owner who reckons he wants to make the most of the cheaper European market yet hasn’t even managed to get a manager in to assess fully what’s already here.
Add to that we will then have to contend with potential players being away with their countries.....and that bloody excuse for failing to get players in.

we are heading for the new season completely unprepared, and miles off the pace, whoever the manager is going to be.
the incompetence is actually as bad as anything that’s gone before, including the years of bad management by KM.

It’s so bloody United, 12 months ago I believed we had changed. Seems I was wrong, perhaps we are seeing an explanation why we never managed to land players we wanted?

What do we think to the rumours still going round that we’re waiting on Slav to decide. He isn’t being rushed as he want to weigh up the options. He’s notoriously difficult to close deals with according to Nixon.
If true, and the fans demand Slav, how can the club be expected to expedite it?

I hope that’s a load of bollocks. We take three fucking months to decide, using up all the valuable time available to prepare for
Next season and when finally offer it someone the jobs so “meh” he’s having to think about and see if he gets a better offer??!!

Again...if right...it’s our transfer policy on repeat.
sorry to be negative, but it’s clear to me which way this is all heading and it isn’t ending well.
You don’t know what you’re missing until it’s gone. And it went.
What a shambles.

Some posters really can't wait to have a flounce on here.

I am not sure that people were listening when it was made abundantly clear that PH was in charge until the end of the season. So on that basis, what is the point of announcing anything before the end of the season?

What were folk expecting? Jokanovic to be unveiled at the final whistle, and then chase the players around the lap of honour with the Benny Hill them blaring out over the PA?

Very credible ITK suggests it's a done deal and will be announced in the coming days. So let's see what happens before we start pulling the panic chord.

Hey stop with that rational shit

What forum do you think this is?

I've said this before and I'll say it now. If we can't get Slav r even if we can David Wagner would be a great appointment, far better than any of the names on the shortlist that's ocme out, bar Jokanovic. If Slav is taking his time and witing for other options I'd definitely turn to Wagner. As others have said we need this appointment this week really, even the players and interim manager are calling for it as we know. We could do worse than Hecky in my view also, if some of the names that have come up are true.

Obviously he’s my horse so I’m going to back him, but I don’t see what puts Wagner ahead of Clement if we’re going down the list.
Personally I’m not sure what puts Jokanovic ahead of him but he can’t be 3rd choice surely?
