Swansea Recruitment Model

Wilder said in Lincoln presser we use a data company.

With Jamestown only doing one club per division there's a right market there for anyone who might be able to replicate what they do.

He also said the data has us down as a really unlucky team so we’re obviously having our pants pulled down for that data

Most of the stats show that we create fewer chances, have a worse passing accuracy, fewer balls into the box, fewer key passes and a lower XG than the vast majority of the division while managing to concede some of the highest numbers in the reverse statistics.

Rate unlucky

We don't like these things because we tried it once and it failed, similar to why we should never employ a foreign manager again, plus it would effectively be the end of the CW comfort blanket.
But what we tried was a car boot pirate copy and our human interface ( Jamie’s recruitment.com) had only just worked out how to use outlook

AI has the answer.

There are between 2,000 and 2,500 active sports analytics companies and startups operating globally. Industry database tracking indicates that out of these, roughly 536 firms have successfully secured venture capital funding, with over 750 new startups launching in this sector within the past five years alone.

Though like choosing a manager, DOF, or recruitment team it's all about choosing the right one.

AI can't tell you which one is right for your club, if it could every club in the country would be as successful as Grimsby Town using Jamestown, or we were using James Bord.

Luck has a great effect on the game as it does in life, though many choose to ignore it.

Most savers with typical luck win less than the headline prize fund rate, and nearly two-thirds of holders win nothing at all in a given analysis -

What makes it worse is the fact that we used potentially the absolute shittest AI model we could have possibly gone with.

"I don't like steak. Tried it once and hated it"

"Oh that's a shame. Where did you get the meat from? Could have just been a poor cut"

"Oh I got it from this guy who was sat on a street corner, selling it out of a bin liner. He said he'd been there for 6 hours and nobody had bought anything, so I thought I'd give him a few bob. I'm sure it was fine, it's just a me thing"

You could have a good analytics system and recruit relatively unknown players, but you still need the right coach/manager to bring the best out of them and improve players to take the club forward or sell at a profit. Parallels with academy prospects in which we have been quite successful over the years even though we haven't always sold at bigger profits than we would like.

Have you actually read anything to do with Grimbsys involvement with Jamestown? You seem to be enjoying poking fun at them and using them as another reason why not just because they’ve not made It to the premier league yet.

Makes for some quite interesting reading actually.

Key points are:

Started on a small and modest scale. One person to assess targets
Took a little time bedding in but consistent improvement now they’ve bought in (gone from narrowly avoiding relegation to making play offs)
Recently used it to assess 7 new signings as well as offering 4 professional contracts to youth players
Analysis ongoing of previous transfer windows and preparations already underway for future windows.
Club extremely happy with partnership and progress.
Fans pleased

Sounds terrible doesn’t it. We should absolutely avoid it at all costs and take the piss out of them for trying to better themselves

He said those comments before yesterdays game 🙄

Owners were hoodwinked into buying some magic beans that would guarantee ££££$$$$

Two of the widely acclaimed B clubs - not BMFC - both made investments in both Edinburgh clubs.

One embraced being part of a football group, the other told the investors to bolt because they wanted to make changes.

Guess which one was which 😤😤😤

Whoever we are using can’t be any good if we are only re-signing former players, or people who’ve played for Leicester City.

He also previously said that we use "a proper data company", but nobody's thought to ask which one or what the data is used for.
I guess it's entirely possible that the data is only used for analysing the performance of our players, because our recruitment certainly doesn't suggest it's been used for identifying players.

I used AI to choose my lottery numbers last week, suffice it to say I'm not in a position to buy our club yet.
I asked Grok this just now and it gave me the correct answer, namely:

a) pick numbers 32 or higher to minimise the chances of splitting a jackpot, given humans disproportionately use numbers that have "meaning" to them such as birthdays
b) literally any other investment, even Crab Lotteries, has a better return, so don't pick numbers at all

To give an idea how limited our recruitment model is for new players, here are out of contract players next summer who seem realistic(ish):

Def
Ross Sykes (Union SG)
Dujon Sterling (Rangers)
Stacey (Norwich)
Cooper (Millwall)
Walker (Burnley)
O’Nien (Sunderland)
Paddy McNair (Hull City)
Ciaran Brown (Oxford United)
Anthony Ralston (Celtic)
Conor Roberts (Burnley)
Ben Davies (Spurs)

Mid
Josh Brownhill (Saudi)
Will Hughes (Palace)
Samuel Edozie (Saints)
Cantwell (😁)
Laurent (Burnley)
Reed (Fulham)
Willock (Cardiff)
Calvin Harris (Kansas City)
Josh Cullen (Burnley)
Jason Knight (Bristol C)
Conor Coventry (Charlton)
Ryan Gauld (Vancouver)
Liam Henderson (sampdoria)
Charlie Savage (Reading)

Att
Rhian Brewster (Derby)
Sam Gallagher (Stoke)
Che Adams (Torino)
James Wilson (Hearts)

This at least is all the home nations players out of contract and perhaps on our radar(ish) under our main search criteria.

We’d better get cracking if we’re so narrow in our search because there are plenty I wouldn’t fancy.

I bet Wilder doesn't have the faintest idea about data, AI or any of that.

If he's like the men I know who are about 60, he probably has to get his daughter to show him how to download an app or how to use Whatsapp and that's only if he hasn't left his glasses in the car.

Even though it was under Wider that we first saw the players wearing 'sports bra's' to collect live, on pitch data from.

But it was probably Alan Knill that introduced that.

To put some balance I’m 70 and me and all my mates who are all over 60 are tech gurus
It’s the 72 and up who really a screwed
