Wilder. You need to apologise to the fans for tonight.

Haha. You'd think so given how clappy I am. wouldn't you, but that was the straw that broke the camels back. If Wilder has a spine he needs to apologise, because if im reacting like this it's gone very wrong. I can probably accept it if he apologises, but if he tries to justify that then he can go for me. He's basically given up if we can't go for a win against bloody Fulham. I don't want a man with that kind of mindset in charge.
You've changed ya tune. I slagged him off a few months back and got accused of being a Wednesday fan

I’m not defending Wilder but I will still call shit like this out. Nobody has the tools to keep us in the premier league as it stands stop talking bollocks. Call the manager out for tonight’s team selection etc but no other manager could have taken this group of players and kept them up.
I am sure you are correct in that no one could keep this team up.
It does not stop it being true that Wilder is out of his depth and has been all season.
But then again, no other manager would have bought the players Wilder has recruited ver the last two seasons.

Its a lack of motivation by Wilder when you leave didsy, Bogle and Burke on the bench, and decide to sit back and hoof it to McBurnie when playing that way has proved hopeless in the past.
The team. must have seen that line up tonight and lost any motivation they may have had.
Ffs it was Fulham. not citeh!
Yep this sums it for me. Those players would make a difference. It was clear after 5 mi s that Fulhams back four were comfortable with McB and Sharp. The game was crying out for Burkes pace. If those players are carrying knocks then let us know.
Very very low today. Don Hutchison was commentating over here in NZ and he said we looked a beaten team after 20mins. Sadly he was right.
I still want Wilder here, but want to see that "we're here fuck you" attitude he used to have. Otherwise he is not even as good as Warnock when setting up for draws. Especially when rooted to the bottom.
I am trying to remain positive........its hard though.

Tufty you've had my support throughout, but tonight I'm in a state of confusion and disbelief.
Hoof ball until the inevitable (again we conceded a soft goal) and only then do we begin to try to play football against the 3rd worst team in the EPL with one home win - until tonight.
Our most intelligent, in form and dangerous players are benched (Didzy and Bogle).
How does Stevens start if Norwood is dropped? Both as bad as each other.
When we start with McB we just hoof it. Please tell me, is this coached? because during our amazing previous seasons (with you at the helm) this never worked.

Furious tonight.
Answers on a postcard marked Championship. FFS.

weve lost 20 out of 25 but the systems working ? sorry chris but it aint were crying out for a system that gets us more possesion in midfield whats the point of playing 2 strikers when we only get 25% possesion absolute nonsense tactics starting every game with 5 at the back and 3 midfielders sitting deep is sending the wrong message to the opposition hes gone from a man with steel balls to a man with marsh mallow balls

I keep saying this on other threads, so I apologise for the repetition, but he simply cannot admit the system is at any fault.

He received the fulsome praise of Bielsa and Guardiola for it. The admiration of a galaxy of European football technocrats.

This is the football equivalent of a scientist winning the nobel prize for physics and then finding out he can no longer replicate the results. However....

A minor question but perhaps an important one when considering our season to date...When you say replicating the results...Are you talking about physical constants? Ie Physical quantities that are believed to be both universal in nature and have constant value in time or are you contrasting with Mathematical constants, which have a fixed numerical constant but do not directly involve any physical measurement?

O

ffs if Rodwell & Robinson are the answer what’s the f***ing question
Haha I'm not saying they're the answer at all, but he signed them. Surely if they're not injured they should be involved in some way during an injury crisis.

That being said I've been told that they're both injured

What I think is making the situation worse is that he’s a Blade. I’ve defended him but after tonight I think we need a change. A Manager that doesn’t have that baggage may be a blessing? I don’t know, but fresh ideas, fresh players, new tactics. It’s becoming stale to say the least. For fucks sake, I can’t stand watching any more displays like tonight’s again that’s for sure.

I’d say, ‘ what would you do’ why don’t you tell us all how you would sort it out.
It’s not my job to sort it out. The point is if you’re going to pick that tribute act of a starting 11 and yet again sneer at fans because us plebs might question it, don’t be surprised to get grief when said 11 don’t touch the ball in the opposition box once in the first half.

Honestly, his attitude in interviews is draining his credit just as quickly as the limp dick performances IMO.

I understand the frustrations about the system but the fact is that we don't have the players, even when everyone is fully fit, to play anything other than 3-5-2.

We have no genuine wingers, maybe Burke but I wouldn't want him in front of a full back with defensive responsibilities. The other possible one was Robinson but he's gone. Bogle maybe but even then it's a square peg in a round hole.

If we're going to see a change in system it's going to be pre season based on our transfer activity. The signings we make will tell you exactly how we're planning on setting up next season

Burke and Bogle could at least be tried. Brewster could be tried. Anything better than hump it to McBurnie and watch him fail to connect with Sharp again.

What baffles me is we go to Old Trafford and have a right go, and dare I say even looked good in possession at times.
What the hell was that all about at Fulham?
Fulham were shocking tonight even if they had one or two players better on the ball than ours, Lookman for example!
Nonetheless they are a team that is definitely going down with us yet we turn up at their place and show them the respect as if we were playing the Spanish national team or somert!
Wilder got it massively wrong tonight, why play Sharp who’s a goal poacher around the six yard box in a team that went to deliberately allow Fulham total possession????
He should have gone with our clever players and gone toe to toe with a very average, sorry shite Fulham team!
The thinking on this one by our very able manager falls embarrassingly short tonight.

Fulham may well be average but they are certainly not shite, they have taken more points since boxing day than we have taken all season, they have kept more clean sheets in a week than we kept in our last 28 games , they have managed to close the gap between themselves and safety quite significantly, they have given themselves a fighting chance to stay up

Yep, they have done what we failed to do. Improved.

Ampadu v Lookman: a very telling comparison.

You might get more joy out of the Phoenix currently mate.😊

Get all that but if we go with let's say 4-4-2 we then go with a midfield two out of fleck/lundstram/Norwood which would get absolutely mullered in this league. They’ve barely got the athleticism to play in a 3 let alone a 2.

Which one's and how?😉
Anyone, seriously, anyone. I’d give Paul Tisdale a chance in the Championship. He is a believer in proper football and has never had a penny to spend. If you’re suggesting, after the last 12 months, that Wilder deserves to stay, at what point would you sack him then?

You could be right, but so what? Why not try? What do we have to lose?

And we could play one less up front, or slightly behind.

I get why people are upset. I reckon last night we played even worse than we did against Wet Spam. But let put things in context, I feared the worst even before we kicked off. We had lost our main defender and have injuries all over the shop. On top of that, we had players coming back that were not fit due to lack of game time because of injuries. I was surprised when I saw the team. But we don't know the back story. Didzy who had been our best player was on the bench. Why? We don't know, I'm just guessing he has a slight knock. We are going down now so let's get behind the only manager who can get us back in quick time IMHO. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

My question wasn't aimed at you mate. And never😊.

I think we've seen plenty of proper football the last few seasons, albeit a tad myopic at times.

I agree that we’ve seen some great football but it is an ever changing game. My issue is that CW doesn’t have the skill to work out a new winning formula now that his old one has been sussed. The PL is like Formula One, adapt and innovate every year or get left behind. He’s given us some great memories but he’s found his level. No shame in that, there have been many like him before (Warnock for one) but he’s just not good enough.

True...the down turn is weird and alarming.

However to be honest with covid it's been a weird season for everyone.
Chris hasn't even had a proper pre-season to prepare properly.
Appreciate other teams in the PL haven't had time to prepare but all things being equal the higher quality squads will do better.
Its Wilders mentality this season that I can't get my head around. Last season he was a breath of fresh air for a manager of a relatively small premier league club trumpeting that we wont be bullied by the big boys, and that well always "have a go". This season is a totally different mindset...Why..? Is it because of losing Jack O'Connell and knew we would ship goals..? But results aside, it's this that has disappointed me the most.

I agree,he looks lost at the mo.

Perhaps I'm biased cos I've met him and cannot imagine looking him in the eyes and telling him he's not good enough anymore.

It's inevitable he will be replaced one day but for now the jury's out for me.

I'll give him next season before my patience wears out if we are still a frustrating watch and he shows little flexibility with selections and set ups.

Fwiw, I listened on the radio last night until Bash went off. Switched off then so I understand the frustration felt by us all.

100% this.

I think something we've missed this year is a full pre season. A month and a half was never enough for a team like us to fully rest up and integrate new signings into the system we play. I don't think it's any suprise that the injuries we've had are to players that played practically every minute last season and have not had sufficient recovery time post season.

Whatever happens this summer the one thing everyone needs at the club is time away from it to recover physically and mentally and get them right for next season. Should be approached as a clean slate for everyone and take the mentality we took into our first season in the championship and attack the league, regardless of who we're up against.
