No Money For Transfers or Loans

But if we were to sell those players we will certainly get a fair whack of money back. That’s kinda the point.

Yes I understand that, though looking so far if we transfer listed the lot of them we would be very lucky to recoup half of what we paid for them. Of course easy to say in hindsight but the more money the more risk.

(And with that said maybe one of the 4 frees I would have mentioned would have rediscovered their old PL form...)

Me too, but if the deals aren't there to be done then that's it isn't it really?
Don't want anyone here who'll not be here next season, and I guess the thinking of it is Championship clubs will be very fucking skint in the summer and we'll have parachute payments.

I'd not sign anyone permanently. It would be foolish given our form and how much extra it would cost. But a couple in on loan to perk everyone up would have been worth throwing a few million at if it would pick up our form and results a bit. We're in desperate need of something different.

No surprise. This is the inevitable consequence of the shambles-transfer window of the summer and the equally shambles results this season. Like a lot of us the fans, the board have accepted relegation as well, and you can't really blame them.

A fraction of the £85 million wasted

Actually it's a lot more than that if you add Freeman and Robinson and McBurnie and Mouset

Close to £130 million on eight players who have made hardly any impact at all
Apart from two of them were top scorers as we finished 9th in the Premier League. But yeah, hardly any impact

You've picked 4 horrendous free transfers there

To be fair the paid for ones aren’t much better

My thoughts would have been a blend, maybe Hart & Sturrige, then Brewster & Berge

Don’t want a team of has beens, but someone has to help out the young lads, Hart isn’t the keeper he was, but many of the younger ones will have grown up watching him for England

Hart's fucked. Ramsdale hasn't been as bad as people seem to like to think he has. Hart is walking disaster area now

Wilshere would never play because he'd always be injured

Same goes for Welbeck

Sturridge too, actually

Hart is that fucked that he's playing in Europe for Spurs.

I would have liked to see 2 loans arrive. Just from the perspective of seeing how the team and other players play due to a change in personnel in Central Midfield and at Centre half. Currently I would replace most of the team. But one or two players in key areas could make a big enough difference to change the form of the team and individual players.

I do think the outlay on a couple of midfield loans would have been worth it, just to field a more competitive team
Agreed in part, but I guess it depends on loans that we could potentially sign next season. The horse has sadly bolted and has run beyond us, which makes any ‘big’ loan signings difficult.

We really don’t know what players who are available for loan think of us. I’m guessing on the most part, nah

Derby signed 9 players the January they got 11 points. No idea what point I'm making with that though 😂

McBurnie and Mousset scored some crucial goals which won us points and guaranteed our safety. Worth every penny.

83 games - 13 goals for 33 million not worth every penny at all. Both not Prem players, wasted money, should have bought from Europe. McBurnie been little better than a pub player, Moose a fat flop-

The recruitment has not just been bad it’s been horrendous. With hindsight I don’t think Chris would have bought Berge Moose McB Lowe Rammers or Brewster he’s regretting them all.

Under 30mil combined to secure our PL survival = to £120m+ in PL money. And of course not relegated into the current EFL uncertainty...

Living up to your username I take it if you can’t grasp that

In fairness Mousett scored some crucial goals (winners) which got us up the table so as far as I'm concerned paid off most of his transfer fee.

McBurnie less so, however he's the sort that if we go down could fire us back up so kinda understand the transfer tbh so jury still out on that one.

Or maybe saving the money until the summer and let a new manager choose the players he wants? just a theory
thats a very interesting take on the situation maybe their trying to piss chris off so that he makes the decision for them i would like him to stay and have a crack at getting us back up but think if things are not going well by the end of october they will sack him

A lot of that £130 million was spent last season and we stayed up unfortunately it looks like we needed to spend that again for this season plus the fact that we had to buy a goal keeper as the one we had went home it’s not been plain sailing, if we’d kept Hendo and spent the £18 million from Rams on another midfield I wonder if that would have made a significant difference? answers on a postcard...

Crikey, we have some idiotic fans. Short memories too. Mousset and Mcburnie were both excellent last season and both massively contributed to our success. The success that led us to finishing 9th... Every player we have signed will have a re sale value to. I’m not writing ant of them off just yet. I can’t believe people are actually suggesting we sign crocks like Welbzzz Lallana or Wilshere! All will be on over 60k per week

If you actually read what I said, I think we could have been a bit more nuanced in places with transfer strategies.

Even if someone is paid 70k a week that is only £4 million a year with no transfer fee...

Over a 3 or 4 year contract, that’s a hell of an outlay for injury prone players who’ve shown no recent form and have no hope of any resale value.

I have said it before some of our fan base are trying to re-write history to back up their arguments. we were crap after Christmas all Wilders signings have been terrible.

I will leave this here, this is the average weekly wage at each club. Yes on paper it looks like we spent all this money on transfer fees but its all bullshit. These fees are made up of many variable and are paid over a long period of time we are paying nowhere near the money which is being banded about. It’s wages which is the real barometer and look at where we are. I’m sure there are quite a few championship clubs who pay their players more than us. So the next time people spout about we have spent this that and the other have a little look at this stat.

This is above is what wilder has always talked about making sure we he doesn’t put the club in trouble should we drop. I’m sure this will get completely ignored though by the Ramsdale cost us 18m brigade.

Palace pay a lot of bad players a lot of money based on that

Can never trust wage stats nowadays. Most of the tables I have been through use our last publicized wage list which was when we were still in the champ. Especially after the Princes and Phipps recent abdabs (claiming we were paying 40-50k a week on a good few players) on social media fuck knows what we are actually paying. Understand what you are putting across though. ⚔️

edit: Picture to prove I've not gone fully mental yet... 😅
