Well he's been in charge for a handful of games now, and my own opinion is... very impressed!
I know its a bit early to make judgements but I have seen a massive improvement so far and feel I am slowly getting my blades back!
My quick views
  • Passion coming back
  • Improvement of players
  • Massive improvement on Ched (Possibly Corky)
  • And although varied opinion had a backup plan with chucking kozzy on for some late long throws
  • Impressed with signings so far

Most of my mates seem impressed too just thought I'd see what you guys think? :)

have to agree the passion and play is much better we are lacking a quality midfielder hopefully that will be sorrted thsi week.

our luck has to change we have a massive few weeks coming up ipswich, palace and scunny away feb is a massive month for us

come on you red and white wizarrdddssss . . . . .. UTB

Heard Tom Hark is available?

Just lacking that win, which the most important thing. I'm behind him and it's nice to see the side battling for games again. Some grumbling on here already that he hasn't got a win under his belt. We've won 7 games all season. I think we all know there would have to be a vast improvement in the teams moral and attitude before another W was notched. It's got to come soon.I am 100% behind Adams to us out of this mess.

There are some promising signs but the bottom line is two points from twelve = Relegation!

He needs to grasp some nettles: Montgomery and Quinn. We are going nowhere but down by relying on these two mediocre (and that flatters them) plodders.

Kozluk has no more got a long throw than his legendary pace which was also a myth. He's amusement value only, at least for the opposition. For us it's now very serious.

MA needs to make some basic decisions about the resources available to him - and fast. In so doing he needs to ignore any sentimental drivel he might hear or read about local heroes who try hard but lack even basic ability.

Pinchy could you change the record please or tell us who we should replace these two with?

Williamson and Andy Reid or Glenn Whelan. Failing that give McAllister a chance.

Actually it's the manager's job - not mine! But replace them we must, or we will be relegated.

Not that I want to see a central midfield of Monty and Quinn, but our problem yesterday was a total lack of pace or creativity from wide. The way Adams is setting them up to play, we need better than Cress and Ward. Or even the uncoachable Yeates.

It's easy to put these names forward, Pinchy but why would either of those two come to the Lane? Unless we can persuade their clubs to subsidise their wages on some kind of a loan deal, why on Earth would they take a huge wage cut to join a relegation scrap? We're hardly an attractive proposition at the moment, are we?

All you have to do is name their names on a football forum and They Will Come, or so it would appear. As I've already stated in another thread here Williamson has made a total of 17 league starts for United since he's been here so I'd really prefer a midfielder who wasn't brittler than a brandy snap bridge.

But that doesn't matter. Just name whoever you like, then castigate the club and manager when they don't go straight out and sign them.

We'd happily see ALL of our side go if it was for the better. It's unfortunate that this takes more than a few presses of a computer keyboard, otherwise we'd all be football managers.

Whilst Adams was the right choice he will have to do better with his substitutions than he did yesterday, and to have any chance of surviving the drop he will have to conjure up a new midfield from somewhere.

Absolutely right JD. It's a question of priorities though. Once I've sorted out the central midfield (it seems it's my responsibility!) I shall certainly move on to the hugely ineffective Ward and the honest but over the hill Creswell. They have both got to go as well but I have only one pair of hands I'm afraid.

I've got no problem with Monty OR Quinn, I do have an issue with Monty AND Quinn. If it comes down to a choice between the two of them, it's Monty every time.

Monty and Williamson, Reid out left (please) and an in-form Yeates right would suit me. Unfortunately, that relies on a few factors coming right: 1. Reid willing to come back; 2. Willo staying fit; 3. Yeates getting back to form. Yeates has the potential to be dangerous but he's so frustrating. I like the word 'uncoachable' that JohnDenver uses, sums him up. He looked sulky when he came on yesterday and that's no way for a player to be right now if we're going to stay up. Mind you, Wardy is just as uncoachable. Lightning fast and never beats the full back?

My opinion is that he looks like Mayor West from Family Guy.

Adams and luck

Luck and results. The only 2 things missing imo.

Sadly the latter; results is the only things that matters at the moment. The performances have improved as have the efforts and organisation but we are not winning games and his record thus far in that department is poor; indeed his win ratio is even worse than the other incumbents. Some tough games coming up too but I hope we can turn it around.

Usually a new manager gets a win in their first few games (look at Blackwell, Adams, Speed) and it is worrying that the initial extra efforts/passion players have shown have not brought this win and Adams must wonder where the next three points is coming from. Hopefully now the newness has not worn off, the players will still be showing the extra effort and trying to impress the new manager still as if these things drop off again we really are in trouble.

As for all this talk of luck, if we analyse the results we are about right really regardless of any perceived injustices/refereeing (had 1 penalty given (2 if you count Villa to 1 conceded in the 4 games and also 1 sending off by a team (2 if you count Villa) to 0 for us).

I felt we deserved a point yesterday but then could have lost at Coventry by all accounts and had a lot of luck in that game (hit woodwork 3 times, Norwich hit it too yesterday too). The draw with Doncaster was about right and they deserved to lose at Burnley by all accounts. So not quite sure how we have been so hard done by in Adams' games?

2 points from 12 is about right really or does anyone feel we should have won a few of the games- I think draws is about the best we have deserved?

Pre-historic, backwards, long ball, hoof it and scrap, avoid real footballers, shout loudest, get stuck in and hurt em. Same as I thought when he was appointed.

You either didn't get to the game yesterday, or perhaps and more likely you just need another injection of attention.

Adams has been a breath of fresh air since he arrived and will get it right although whether he's given the room to manoeuvre this transfer window or not remains to be seen. His signings thus far have impressed me. His passion, positive approach and confidence are infectious and if he manages to steer the current crop of players clear of relegation he should be given the freedom of the city.
I'm far more confident of surviving with Adams in charge than if SOD had taken the role.

Nope, went to game, decent effort by the lads. Thread asking for opinions on Adams so I give it. What's your problem, pal?

Or possibly both.

Wow. A rare post from you containing no abuse of Quinn or foul and abusive.

He was there and he said he enjoyed it and couldn't believe we lost. For reasons only known to himself, he feels the need to act the silly twat on here. Shame really because he could post some decent stuff if he wasn't so desperate to be some sort of cyber anti-hero.

I think Adams has not done too badly so far but the results are not what has been required so far.

I missed the game yesterday due to a commitment clash. From what I hear though we seem to be moving in the right direction and I'm looking forward to games whereas they were almost becoming a chore. I like the way we seem to be heading and that Ched seems to have clicked in some way.

Initial impressions are favourable. It's quite clear what he is trying to do. He still needs that commanding, experience centre half to marshall the defence - I'm sure he knows that and that's what he's after. My only fear is that we don't get that first win under Adams and we just get in a rut we can't get out of. Saturday against Norwich was a great chance to win, two goals conceded from a corner, that should have been cleared, or should I said that Simmo should have held onto. If we'd have defended two routine corners (even though Simmo should have done better, we should have been first to react and get shut) then it would have been three points in the bag.

My problem, pal, is that If I wrote a post about how we were doomed, how everything was wrong at the club, about everything in the garden being shite, you'd follow it up with your trademark "top stuff alco, more of the same please".

Do you really know what it means to be a supporter of a football club?

Adams wouldn't have been my first choice (or even on the first page of choices) but I have liked what I've seen so far as far as organisation and effort are concerned. I can see what he is trying to do, which is a huge step forward from where we've been recently.

>He needs to grasp some nettles: Montgomery and Quinn.
agree totally.. we will go nowhere with these two clowns.. i've been saying it for years.. 'but they'll run through a brick wall '.. so what
btw .. we haven't won a match yet... played five won 0 drawn 2 lost 3.. considering you normally get a dead cat bounce with the appointment of a new manager i'd say this is very worrying
don't think this is MA's fault btw.. you can't make silk purse out of a pigs ear

Whatever Kozluk's shortcomings have been over the years, he most certainly did have pace.
