Good on you, enjoy.

I needed a dump walking around Bergen. All the shitters had combination locks on the door, so I ended up paying about £15 for two coffees, just for the pass.

I’m still not convinced I shouldn’t have just shat my pants instead. :D

Depends how much a new pair of keks would have cost

For me, about a quid for 2 pairs. So it really depended on how much I could cope with people pointing out that “that dirty bastard has shit himself”.

I’d have broken at £20.

I could bag 3 expedition cruise ship's worth more If I felt that way inclined ;)

Ahem :D :D :D

Flam railway?

Not on this occasion but good tip, thanks.

The clue was actually in the post ;)

The plan in late November 2021 is to either board the MV Hurtigruten up the Norwegian coast to Tromso and spend 8 days searching for Orcas, humpbacks etc., and chasing the Northern Lights on a different ship

or, depending on the cost of that,

flying straight to Tromso and then (in either case) boarding the three-mast sailing ship Rembrandt van Rijn :)

Really? I remember wanting to let the lease go. The lads that took it on tried hard but I guess it was doomed to failure. Didn't help that Sheffield Hallam had the pub on their "off-limits" list due to the pig invasion that happened. Hadn't realised it was that recent. Thank you :)
great memories of the sportsman had some fantastic sessions in there afternoon and night pre match swaying 6 deep at the bar singing blades anthems and packed in like sardines

Sounds fantastic. As an aside, can you get pissed on those trips? (not that I’ve got a problem....much 😂)

Always wanted to do similar. Went on a cruise to Iceland and Norway about ten years ago which was great but didn’t manage to see the Northern Lights (we were told in one place that they’d seen them the night before so we stayed up hoping but it was too cloudy). Didn’t see much of Bergen but Alesund was lovely. It’s a beautiful country.

I can confirm that on my Northbound Hurtigruten sailing from Bergen in February 2020, I ticked 31 different Norwegian beers. A combination of those served on board, cans brought on board & some superb pubs & microbreweries at the longer stops on shore. The Norwegian beer "scene" is excellent.

You can get pissed anywhere. ;)

I think, considering that a drunken fall into freezing ocean could be fatal, I probably won't be getting pissed on my voyages ;)

Anyway, who wants to suffer a hangover when the beauty of the natural world is there to be enjoyed?

I first realised the beauty of the fjords when a then best mate of mine who was a geography teacher came back from a cruise on the Norwegian coast back in the 80s and his pictures were glorious.

I knew then that one day, I'd see the country.
