we signed olly Norwood on 13th august
-------------------------------

im sure its been said but the thread title makes me highly doubt this transfer as £20m. I don't see us spend £20m on anyone
When were we last in a league that guaranteed every one in it about £90 million a season?

this information is 2 transfer windows + current one old. but I worked out that we had spent £50m in transfer fees in previous 30yrs compared to villa who had spent 80m in 2 yrs. we've never been a team that chuck cash at it even with our 3 seasons in premier league in that time. why James Beattie was still our record signing at 4m until today when some championship sides are spending 10-15m like its going out of fashion

The saying goes you get what you pay for. In Wilders lingo you get twice as much as pay for.

No need to panic about big money signings, Wilder is all about value which is why we have the most creative player outside the Premiership for a bargain £4m.

I think our transfer activity does perhaps take a bit longer than many others - Wilder looks to screw great value from all of them - one of the reasons we have had such success.

Our transfers don’t take any longer than any other club in the country. If you look on other message forums I bet you’d find fans of other teams saying the same thing. And Wilder doesn’t do the negotiating so he won’t be screwing value out of anything.

You are talking factually about something you really don’t know for sure. I at least used “perhaps”. Of course, I’d agree that fans of alll clubs moan about transfer activity.

Wilder has constantly talked about how he wouldn’t waste the club’s money.

He clearly has an impact on the players we chase and the way these deals are negotiated.

In any case, whoever has dictated it, we clearly shifted to a more value based approach since Wilder came. And it’s to be applauded.

Probably 2 reasons - first McCabe has simply never had the levels of cash that some owners have and second, we were relegated from the PL the season BEFORE the big TV money came in.
And despite that, Villa's spending nearly fucked them up:

"Xia is doing everything possible to keep hold of the club he purchased in 2016.
He has invested over £150million and is desperately seeking ways to continue funding it.
On Wednesday it’s understood that he has a £6million loan approved which helped cover the outstanding tax bill and some of the other running costs.
That money will help keep Villa going for the next 30 days or so but then the problems begin again."

Ireland are not really a foreign country. Donaldson is English
Hmm, go on then, for Donaldson despite the big Jamaican flag that he always has against his name.

Ireland isn't a foreign country? That would be really handy for Brexit, perhaps we should tell the Irish to be part of Britain - problem solved ;)

Donaldson is from Bradford.

Nope. Eire and the UK form the Common Travel Area so while ID is required on entry is doesn't necessarily need to be a passport.

Whilst this may be true, try to fly to Eire without a passport. You wont get there :-)

It depends where you enter. I flew to Dublin last year and had to go through passport control, even though I flew from Birmingham. But when I got back to UK I didn’t go through passport control. Which I thought was odd. Having said that you could go via NI and there would be no controls. Perhaps someone could elaborate?
