I’ve been disappointed with Both Freeman and Baldock this season. The quality of ball into the box hasn’t been there and I think with an improvement is quality deliveries we would certainly score more.

well, you probably remember the incident, Holgate was lucky not to get sent off because he pushed Firmino, running at full speed across the white line, and Firmino ended up in the crowd, it was a dangerous thing to do.

Reasonably Firmino was hopping mad and he went over to Holgate shouting at him. The referee was (as I remember it) keeping the two apart and was very close to both of them as a result.

Holgate says Firmino racially abused him - though the referee didn't hear anything to that effect. They got in Portuguese lip readers to watch the footage and they didn't see any racial abuse either.

Yes, I do think he lied. and a lie is deliberate (I think).

I think you'll agree that challenge deserved a red card?



I think Holgate deliberately lied and said he'd been racially abused to deflect attention away from his misdemeanour and it worked, he didn't even get booked. When you see Firmino head on in the replay, you see some 'puda' or that kind of swearing, but I don't see any word starting with the letter N. Very weak refereeing from someone who was trying to appear politically correct and couldn't handle the situation.

Let’s be honest no one know what happened here. He seemed very noticeably upset after the incident - more so than just being ‘shouted at’ imo. Just as likely that firmino lost his head and said something regrettable imo - anyone can twist the facts for their own Views on events.

But it’s not a great look making wide assumptions about what happened when no one know.

usually they do it by shouting, grabbing their ankles, rolling on the floor complaining they've been fouled. These guys are very used to doing it. It was pure play acting IMO. Quite a few people are very happy to play the race card at the drop of a hat .....

all the words Firmino uttered are there for all to SEE on video. The FA statement .......

"As part of the investigation, The FA sought the assistance of a Brazilian/Portuguese linguistic specialist on the words alleged. In addition to this, we also obtained multiple angles of video footage, including broadcast and unseen footage showing the incident, which was assessed by two independent Portuguese speaking lip reading experts. The evidence obtained from the experts did not support the allegation."

Another Wide statement - ‘I can’t think of any who have ‘played the race card’ to be honest.

You won’t catch me arguing that he shouldn’t have been sent off - he could have seriously injured firmino. And I could understand why he might react in a regrettable way

I’m just saying no one knows and we shouldn’t cast aspersions either way - lip reading is not an exact science
 
yes they DO know, lip reading to deaf people is as exact a science as listening is for those who can hear, I wouldn't be surprised if it weren't more exact.

How much more proof do you need than 3 expert witnesses that the FA got in?

Yeah, they should be walking the league tbh, They have a squad full of 10m plus players, ex England internationals etc.

If there's the chance to get him in now, I wouldn't turn it down.
