Nope, I just mean shift without having to pay them off. There's nobody on a daft enough wages to ability ratio to make them unviable for clubs at their level. And there's no utter trash who belong on the footballing scrapheap.

Purely theoretical, Ricky If we so chose to get rid of Ricky Holmes in the close season, how in god's name do you think we'd do it? We've bought him from a L1 side, paying decent money & increased his wages. Who in their right minds are going to agree to pay us a penny for the fucker? He's contracted until 2020 on championship wages, he'd want the difference between his wages with us for two years and his new wages paying, he'd want paying a fee to break his own contract with us & the L1 club he'd be going to would pay us sweet fanny adams because they'd be paying him a signing on fee as a sweetener & he'd be one of their top earners. We'd probably also have to fellate his agent to get the deal agreed.

dont know why Clarke was missing but time to give Ched his last chance of the season?

Think it’ll be his last chance in a Blades shirt to be honest. Done nothing to deserve a place in the little we’ve seen of him, I’d have loved to have seen him come back and prove himself in this league but I just can’t see it unfortunately.

Any L1 club with a bit of money could get him. We may have to write off a bit with the fee but nothing ridiculous compared to what we've had to do in the past.

In any case, he's not a bad player is he? It would be no real problem keeping him.

Sharp, Clarke, Duffy, Holmes, Donaldson and even Evans for some unknown reason.

Donaldson will be out of contract soon enough so wouldn’t worry about that, and 3 of the 5 left have proved more than adequate at Champ level this season (2 have been excellent)

If he doesn’t start & play the majority of the game on Saturday, he’ll be off in the summer. Unless he’s got something wrong with him, that’s not been announced.

In normal circumstances a lower end League one team taking A player like Ched would not be an issue.

But taking on Ched Evans these day is always going to be an issue, I would think post #metoo we are stuck with him if we can’t pay him off.

ched will come good and was probably bought for ‘next’ season.. it will take him a season to get back up to speed

Ched should be allowed a full pre season training and see next season.

This season? - just plain daft.

UTB

You may have a point there. It took him three seasons to get up to speed last time and that was when he was younger and fitter.

I think it may take him about five seasons to get up to speed personally. But I’d still give him a chance in this last two games. Nowt spoiling like.

The fee for Ched and his wages would have been useful to spend last summer on a fit striker. That's life.

Big call by Wilder? or somebody out of a modest budget.

Was always a gamble and a surprise signing.

Where else were we going to get a potentially international class centre forward for £150k and relatively tiny wages?

You’d be stupid to think we’ve loaned players out and are covering the majority of their wages.

We loaned Hanson to now relegated Bury, Hanson will currently be on the highest wages of his career.

The best case I can see is Bury will be covering half his wages, I just can’t see them having the budget to cover the majority of a wage which will be high by League One standards.

I think those above assumptions are fair, the club probably took the view that some of his wages being covered is better than none. It’s not a great loan deal but certainly not stupid.

Hugely divisive and clearly not good enough.
The sooner we can get shot and draw a line the better.

Just give him another pre-season, god. Everyone quick to jump on Ched, he has hardly played any football in the last 2 years, he’s scored no goals for us, he looks yards off the pace mentally and physically, he can’t get in ahead of Donaldson, we’re going to sign more strikers for next season, he needs a run of games to get up to speed to get him firing, miles better than Clarke (PFA team of the year), he scored for fun in league 1 twenty five years ago...... oh actually maybe he is shit.

Anyone else here think we have been too generous with the contracts after promotion? We seem to be drifting back to the days of when we dropped into league one and had poor players on good wages that we couldn't shift without paying them up.

Ahhhhhh isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing.

It was only a few months ago.
Everyone was saying the board need to be ambitious and give all the players big new contracts,

Are you now saying we shouldn’t have shown the ambition the fans were demanding?
I suppose after a promotion everyone gets excited and it’s easy to fall into the trap of dishing out big rewards to everyone.

Doubt you’d even get a decent league 2 striker for the money paid out so far on Ched.
Agree Cheds is on big bonuses but we’ve not had to pay any of them.

Don’t think Ched was ever meant to be a main signing.
He was a calculated risk, a low cost risk and the joker in the pack that might just come good.

You doubt you’d get a l2 striker for 500k plus his salary? Being cagey, that’s 600k. So therefore I would disagree. We signed Leon Clarke for less, for a start!!

Personally think ched havig been around the team this season will have done his fitness world of good, even though yes he’s hardly played he’ll have been training with first team more than likely, and hopefully after a good preseason training he’ll come good next season

Ched Evans , another of McCabes stupid ideas.
Like trying to bring the World Cup to Bramall Lane.
Or farting about with owning foreign clubs.
Or building a loss-making hotel.
Or sacking Warnock precisely when we needed an expert at promotion from the Championship.
Or appointing the drunk Brian Robson.
Or selling umpteen goal James Beattie and leaving us with no striker in a PlayOff final , the richest game in world football.
Shall I leave it there ?

It’s disingenuous to say “potentially international class” when someone plays for Wales. League One players sometimes make it into the Wales squad.

We haven’t signed him because he’s played for Wales, nor did we need to sign someone who could or has played at international level.

We needed someone who was good enough to play at this level, who could provide competition for or replace the first choice strikers and who could put the ball in the net. That’s what we’re judging the fee and wages on and few can argue it’s been very poor value for money, however small the outlay.

It was based on sentiment rather than football and it has been a mistake.
