That top pic is Earsham St, I lived on the left just after the motor bike. We used to start our trolly races just above where those kids are, turn left down Atlas St and finish on Carlisle St. The tower in the background is Sutherland Rd baths where I learned to swim.

Opps posted before I'd got to Benn post.

Does anyone have a definite date (year) for the East Earsham Street photo? (Attachment 33711)

1961 ... photographer Roger Mayne

(not encyclopaedic knowledge of photography, though to be sure my knowledge of most other fields is vast ..... just that I use Google images - you should all try it ;) )

If I’m right Woody, and the car on the right hand side of the road is a Jowett Javelin, it’s anywhere from 1947

Good spot GBS. I too thought it a Javelin

I tried the Google image and thought that it showed the same photo with various dates and captions. Now that I've looked into it further, I can see the image with 1961 against it. Thanks for the pointer vorpal blade

Maurice McLafferty, Joe Shaw (I think), Ted Burgin and Harry Latham are the Blades players. Trigger Blade , deffo BDTBL

I don't remember John St looking like that, I assumed Bert was correct with his 1952 which was away from home. Amazingly, we played them the following season in the FA Cup at home, the only two FA Cup games between us. It does explain the big ground though :-)
