Posting a few pics of Christmas in the 70s set my memory going. Anybody else remember the carol bus that was laid on by Sheffield transport? Just an ordinary bus, rigged with a sound system touring the city playing Christmas music. I think at one time it was an open top one with a bloke in a santa suit waving as they went by.

I can't bring myself to go down town and have a walk around the lights. I just know I'm going to be disappointed. Had to go to Meadowhell the other night and even they're shite compared to what they used to be.

I'm very close to the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, adjacent to the Olympic park. It opened in 2012 and I have no idea what their lights and decorations for Christmas are like. I'm in no rush to find out!

Well it is their flagship centre, so you'd expect it to impress to some degree. Might send Mrs SEB on a reccy, but she aint that enthused about it.

These bring back fond memories. A Mk1 Escort was my first new car albeit a company car as a field service engineer, AFA 929K was the reg, post box red and an 1100cc engine. No radio or mats, I had to buy and fit them myself along with the go-faster stripes and fog and spotlights.

Not much to shout about I suppose looking back, the electrics were terrible and they were real rust boxes, but I was barely out of my teens and compared to the old Austin that I’d been running since I was 18 it seemed like a dream.
