Yep. Well done McCabe. Really enjoyed this past five years. It's been fucking top, and no mistake, especially when Yeovil beat us, Simonsen put the ball into Cornwall, the pigs roared past into the Championship and David fucking Wier.

I feel sorry for HRH. So much expectation, now.

Praise for Wilder and the players (and the fans). This title ... and there's no reason to believe it isn't nailed on ... is well deserved and theirs alone.

McCabe = bad

McCabe appointed mangers = bad

Desso = really really bad

Wilder = good, but er.......

Of course it's to do with Wilder, no-one doubts that, but even through your hatred of the bloody Desso, it's still got to be easier for the players to exhibit their undoubted skills on than a cabbage patch.
Why do you have a problem with trying to gain every advantage we can?

And how do opposition teams play on our wonderful pitch?

Let's look at last year:

Sheffield United 1 - 3 Bury
Sheffield United 2 - 3 Colchester United
Sheffield United 1 - 2 Millwall
Sheffield United 2 - 4 Shrewsbury
Sheffield United 2 - 3 Peterborough United
Sheffield United 0 - 1 Burton Albion
Sheffield United 0 - 2 Scunthorpe United

That's 21 points of 'advantage' fucked up which may have put us on equal points with Wigan Athletic, the Champions. To further refute your claims the pitch makes a difference, with a new manager and some astute acquisitions and no brainless flogging of talent, this season we have beaten Peterborough (home), Shrewsbury (home and away on their donkey field), Bury (home and away on their donkey field), drawn with Scunthorpe (home and away) and beaten teams like Gillingham away who literally took us to pieces and shat in our gearbox at the start of the last campaign. I don't doubt there are teams like Oldham who aren't relishing taking us on, on any playing surface at the moment. Wilder has the team playing like they'll eat their own guts to be promoted, unlike last season and previous seasons where what was left after we'd given players away looked like they couldn't give a fat fuck or were playing several leagues above their ability.

Your point about the Desso and it's advantage is void. It's nice to have, however it is paid for, but not an essential ingredient. The stats back that up. Talent on the pitch over a fucking playing surface, every time.

j

That sort of thing needs stamping out..... pleasing the paying fans.

Yeah. Last season everyone was fucking delighted. Bert especially. He likes third division football, you see.

pommpey

Nah. Just happy that you are retracting inwards. Just give up Fred. Your posts are getting more and more desperate and silly.

pommpey

From you that is quite amusing, your claims re the Desso can be classed as both desperate and silly, can't be long now before your claiming another internet scalp.

Before you proclaim your victory I will bid you a very good night, and hope you manage to calm down enough for you to get a good nights sleep

Goodnight

Problem is many of us remember him saying "think Liverpool" not so long ago - when the reality turned out to be more like "think Hartlepool".

Assume you're joking?

When McCabe said "thing Liverpool" he was talking in context to Man City.

Surely.you didn't think we'd be spending 20 million on a Saurez type or 10 mill on a Lalana type.
He meant we wouldn't waste money and pay over the odds but funds would be available if there was a business case.

Blood in the water pommpey ?

Nah. Its a bit pathetic. The Kool Aiders still can't tear their eyes away from the light. And the way they cable-wank Mr Third Party makes any casual observer conclude they have more vested interest in believing their shit than fishing for bites. I am happy to supply some evidence to counter that. They'll not believe that though. They are all

which is a shame.

Still, 2-0 to us tomorrow on the cowfield.

pommpey

And, like the predictable tide tables, before that Bert will roll out 'Bert goes to every game and pommpey doesn't', like it matters one microfuck, accompanied by your slavering arselickers, failing to answer any questions I ask, like the above.

Bert needs to either put up some proof and/or evidence or bugger off. Bert spends a whole bunch of time on here trying to come across all wise, canny and enigmatic, yet fails miserably. If Bert's life exists to troll twats like me over questions he can't answer despite his affirmations of Bladey Hugeness, he possibly needs help. It is Bert (and his obedient serfs) who are obsessed with pommpey. Pommpey just states the obvious and asks Bert and his boys to disprove it.

Which Bert can't. Watch:

Bert, if United beat Oldham tomorrow on their atrocious pitch, how does that show that the Desso has contributed to our brilliantly successful season, when last season we had the Desso and were summarily beaten on it at home and finished eleventh?

Watch, everyone ... watch ...

" ... how many games do you go to ... ?"

See?

pommpey
Pommpey, love the stuff you post etc but as soon as I read "Bert spends a whole bunch of time..." you lost all credibility. Anyone who uses the phrase "a bunch off.. " it to me, dead. It is slightly above any cunt who starts a sentence "so.." and on parity with anyone who uses "get this.."

I have to repeat, anyone who starts a sentence "So..." needs fucking.

And any other amercanisms.

It had to be said and I sincerely hope you learn from your mistake.

Respectfully,

BB (from Barlborough don't you know)

I thought some referred to the fact that it was 'Liverpool' game changing rather than 'Man City' which (to me anyway) referred to a long-term steady progression rather than ending up with a spend of £300 billion and 20 new players in one transfer window.
But everyone interprets the same words in their own way! ;)

Fact is the prince's money did 'game change' from Day 1. Almost immediately Weir was sacked and the new manager given a much bigger budget and he spent it all and so much more before he was sacked.

Adkins had a good budget but we had spent a fortune in the recent JTW.

Wilder has been happy with his budget though it has been reduced from previous seasons.

The budget will increase substantially if/when we go up.. Wilder is in 'dream land' compared to his 700 plus managerial career - a big budget?!- but has to prove he can handle it at the higher level.

I'd back him and even let him 'learn on the job' for a couple of years.

If he gets us up within three years imagine the momentum and confidence our manger will have to tackle the Premier League but that's a different ball game too.

12 months ago there was less than a handful of posters on here sticking up for McCabe and none of them excused his managerial appointment record.

I'm so pleased for those 3/4 posters and congratulate them.

As for the numbers of posters who uttered vile attacks on the man so regularly, for whatever reason they have a need to do it, please be patient next season. This 'United ' club spirit can see us through difficult spells next season. I recall the home crowd cutting Wilder some slack, they were not perfect but really good, in those difficult first few games and it makes a big difference to the players.

Watched the Ireland/ Wales match last night and the home crowd stuck with them all the first hour even though Wales were much the better side. In the last half hour Ireland could easily have won by a couple.

We struggle for a season or two = the board are a waste of space, sack em all!

We do well for a season = the board are amazing! Woop for the board!

Like a fucking pendulum it is.

The fickle world of the football fan Nade.

For me, mistakes have been made, many of them avoidable. But now we have some momentum, and a good manager who seems to "get" how things work here. The board need to back him and keep him happy.

And that worked well didn't it? The longest period outside the top 2 divisions in our history.

As with most on here their decisions are made in hindsight and it is so easy to be critical afterwards but if you look at the last 3 managerial appointments 2 of them were overwhelmingly positively received on this site and the last, Wilder, was a 50/50 split.

Go back read the messages, when Adkins was appointed, it was, apart from Barney , so positive and a great appointment by McCabe. No one saw what came that season. So yeah McCabe hired him, but so would 99% of people on here. He also got rid of him as well so deserves credit. He then got Wilder in, but of course you would have done that and you would never have hired Clough or Adkins because you know it all but amazingly spent your life on a ship, why not, with all your wisdom, set up and run a multi million pound business?

If you can't see the long term benefits of having the Desso, you are either stupid or argumentative or a combination of the 2. I am not saying it gives a benefit to us, as you rightly quote results, but there are so many positives:
Playable all year
Consistent surface
No relaying of surface
No cancelled games
Less injuries
Used for other events
Etc etc

Funny that eh?

12 months ago we were going down the pan, at our lowest ebb for years due to McCabe's repeated errors/misjudgement/bad timing.

McCabe stated we need to reduce costs and 'live within our means' and appoints Wilder as 'the cheap option', years after Dave Bassett and others recommended him to do so....so obviously not McCabes first choice!

Fortunately, here we are, 12 months on and looking good after seeing some of the best football in years :)

Hopefully, If we are promoted, Wilder will be able to take the club forward with the full co-operation of the board and we can start to putting right some of the past mistakes and build for a brighter future together.

UTB!

P.S -hope you had a good holiday, 'welcome back' ;)

For any who doubt McCabe/HRH's input the accounts to 30/6/16 for Blades Leisure ltd show some one put £8 million into this company by it issuing new shares. This company seems to be a holding company which then bought £9 million of shares in SUFC ltd on 24/5/16 and another £4 million the following September.

Its complicated, others will have a better understanding of the accounts, but from this my assumption is McCabe/HRH have been putting in many millions each year so many thanks and I would support any decent ideas on how we fans can show our thanks.

Yes mistakes have been made in the past but it would appear they have continued to pump money in so should be applauded for sticking at it IMO.
