Praise for McCabe, The Prince and SUFC

I thought some referred to the fact that it was 'Liverpool' game changing rather than 'Man City' which (to me anyway) referred to a long-term steady progression rather than ending up with a spend of £300 billion and 20 new players in one transfer window.
But everyone interprets the same words in their own way! ;)
I think some understand the concept of metaphor whilst others have chosen to interpret it literally.

I don't actually believe that Kevin McCabe and the Prince have changed what they've been doing this year. My attitude towards them has softened considerably though due to the comparative success on the pitch.

My main problem with McCabe (especially) over recent years has been the selection of managers: from Robson, to Weir, to sacking Danny Wilson, prematurely. McCabe was also guilty of not addressing fundamental concerns, such as the squad size (which had become bloated) under Clough.

In fairness to McCabe though, he has always had the best interests of the club at heart and for that I'm grateful. In a nutshell: nice bloke, poor judgement.

Not looking for a fight here, but what has the Prince done this season - please enlighten me (serious comment).

Bearing in mind the shit rightly dished out when things go wrong you have to balance that with credit when it goes right. Wilder, the board, the team and the club are getting it right. Credit to them all this far now let's get over the line and have the party we all deserve.

Yep. Well done McCabe. Really enjoyed this past five years. It's been fucking top, and no mistake, especially when Yeovil beat us, Simonsen put the ball into Cornwall, the pigs roared past into the Championship and David fucking Wier.

I feel sorry for HRH. So much expectation, now.

Praise for Wilder and the players (and the fans). This title ... and there's no reason to believe it isn't nailed on ... is well deserved and theirs alone.

Just put a few spare million from his back pocket in. That's all.

This season? Really?

I thought he declared there would be no more cash until we go up?

Never realized he'd put more money in. Be nice to see where.

Oh.

We are all concerned about the playing surface on Saturday, our own pitch was equally as bad as Oldhams until the Desso, investing in infrastructure ,seems a smart move by the powers that be.

You'll be here to explain how we did it if we beat Oldham on their cowfield though, won't you?

I've just realised. It's not Pugwash. It isn't Hornblower. Certainly not Jack Sparrow. Definitely not Bligh.

We ought to have guessed:

That's the Senior Service spirit!
Why the F**k make things easier if we don't have to?

Why not play 1-1-8 and make sure the godawful pitch doesn't disadvantage our spoiled princes, so used to the billiard table that is BDTBL, eh? I mean, we've fucked up enough away from home this season on these really terrible pitches. Injuries galore and opposition teams running us ragged ...

The judgement thing always throws me . Have mistakes been made by McCabe listening to so called experts , advisers , fellow directors . Ferguson at Man Utd recommended Robson at the time .

I cannot see Kevin McCabe being so autocratic that it's all his fault and he listens to no one , albeit the ultimate blame is always at his doorstep due to being chairman.

It's amazing how perceptions change when you are winning football matches .

Bert will explain it then?

Possibly not.

You have a strange obsession with our pitch and McCabe, you pop up like a performing seal as soon as either get mentioned.

Bert predicts that by page 5 of this thread you'll come out with the "Bigger Blade Alert".

Thought this was appropriate for GBC as it's a more general thanks to the powers that be. Season ticket renewal prices are fantastic. . Also very keen are the prices for returning season ticket holders. When you look at the prices charged over at Pigland, our pricing is great value.

Credit and praise where it is due the board deserve a lot of thanks. They cop for plenty of stick but deserve the plaudits for this one.

I think we'll be looking at 20,000 crowds again next year and 25,000+ IF we finish the job and get promoted. The club's united from top to bottom, just as the Snort Beasts are falling apart.

UTB
For comedy values.
Read that all out loud in the medium of Sherman klump.
Fabulous.Fabulous.

And, like the predictable tide tables, before that Bert will roll out 'Bert goes to every game and pommpey doesn't', like it matters one microfuck, accompanied by your slavering arselickers, failing to answer any questions I ask, like the above.

Bert needs to either put up some proof and/or evidence or bugger off. Bert spends a whole bunch of time on here trying to come across all wise, canny and enigmatic, yet fails miserably. If Bert's life exists to troll twats like me over questions he can't answer despite his affirmations of Bladey Hugeness, he possibly needs help. It is Bert (and his obedient serfs) who are obsessed with pommpey. Pommpey just states the obvious and asks Bert and his boys to disprove it.

Which Bert can't. Watch:

Bert, if United beat Oldham tomorrow on their atrocious pitch, how does that show that the Desso has contributed to our brilliantly successful season, when last season we had the Desso and were summarily beaten on it at home and finished eleventh?

Watch, everyone ... watch ...

" ... how many games do you go to ... ?"

See?

Bert has called it right, after the Bigger Blade Alert along comes the shorter, increasingly angry sentences with plenty of full stop usage, followed by a claim of an Internet win,

Are you being a pillock on purpose?
If you can make knocking accurate passes about and playing good football just a little bit easier, why wouldn't you?
I'm not saying we CAN'T play good football on cabbage pitches, just wondering why you wouldn't want skilful players to have the very best platform to show off their skills?

Ferguson would recommend one of his old boys though wouldn't he?

The fact of the matter is that Robson was a failed manager at the time - and there was zero appetite amongst our support for him to become the manager.

As for changing perceptions of people when winning, you're absolutely right. You only need to look at Freeman and Coutts to see that.

Because many of those 'skillful players' couldn't pass wind on our pitch last season, never mind 'show off their skills'. We were beaten by teams like Shrewsbury, Bury, Colchester, Peterborough, Burton. Same pitch, with some of the players who are now suddenly (thank fuck) playing like Championship hopefuls on the same (and other) surfaces.

If you can't see the fallacy in your claims, then I can't help you any more. Keep drinking Bert's Kool-Aid and clap McCabe.

I say its less to do with Desso, more to do with Wilder, his style of play and a few canny additions, and not selling talent, for once.

McCabe may well have been consistent in the process of choosing the wrong manager , but has been consistent in keeping the club afloat with his continual financial input . We have to be continually indebted to him for his backing of the club .

The thing what cannot be measured is the list revenue and wasted dead money we have had to pay out to second rate managers , who have added nothing to the club .

Let's hope we don't fall out with Wilder , the we is fans , board and McCabe as it will not be a 100% roses and a love in , in the championship .

But ticket prices, good yes? ;)

We struggle for a season or two = the board are a waste of space, sack em all!

We do well for a season = the board are amazing! Woop for the board!

Like a fucking pendulum it is.
I understand that. My view is the Board are a benign bunch of dithering fools who have nearly wrecked this club but never meant to do it.

They genuinely want the best for us and them and perhaps by serendipity more than judgement they have finally stumbled across the solution.

Good manager. Good players.

Of course it's to do with Wilder, no-one doubts that, but even through your hatred of the bloody Desso, it's still got to be easier for the players to exhibit their undoubted skills on than a cabbage patch.
Why do you have a problem with trying to gain every advantage we can?
