I'll be worried.

Let's give Millwall another ring and see if we can do a deal for Webster, we'll even offer them Wilson in return...

Desperate for a centre half. That's 34 goals conceded and counting. 5 at the back works, Don't want to rip it up, but as it stands only 2 of them actually deserve a shirt, Wright and JOC.

We're pinning all our hopes on Wright coming back. I hope he's ready.

Anyone on here got the number for Millwall? One of you lads could give them a ring to see if they want to take up 'our' offer.

We have Wright and Wilson as well as three other capable centre halves at the club. Its not so much pinning hopes on Wright, but he leads the back 3 very well. So when he's ready, i'd slot him in.

There is a lot of nonsense being talked at the moment, we've had a couple of bad results and whilst the defence isn't perfect, but its an extremely adequate back line, I believe that Moore was to blame for two goals at Walsall, but we really gain more points with him than without....

Now is not a time to panic. Wilder says he's happy with the JTW work, other than Hanson, which for me, the jury is out on, then i'm impressed with the way Wilder has added. The only area of concern would be RWB if Freeman was out, but Basham can fill in there, other than that, i presume Ramsdale is also more than adequate as cover for Moore.

I cant see why some go into such desperate panic when we lose a game
I wonder if Bolton fans wanted to buy a new team after they lost at home a week ago
and scunthorpe fans insisted on a new back four after they lost a couple

or is it just some of our fans

We might not have Wilson for long, the OP has offered him to Millwall.

It wasn't long ago that everyone was singing the praises of our defence, a couple of bad results later and everyone wants them replaced!

Probably because we have had three bad games, back to back, lost two, drawn one,1 point from a possible 9, Scunthorpe two games in hand and only two points behind us, Bolton 3 games in hand and only 7 points behind us, every chance of dropping out of the automatics in the weeks to come and potentially facing Fleetwood again in the play offs, should it come to that.

Hardly looked like scoring against Walsall, managed to scrape a draw with Gillingham, never looked like scoring last night. Conceding goals at an alarming rate, 8 in the last three games.

Apart from that, everything is fine.

yeah exactly, we've shipped a few goals, 8 in 3 games, which isn't ideal, but the important things is to steady things. We've had a lot more of the good games than bad.

Out of interest, without looking at stats from last night, did we create much v Fleetwood?

The reason we got to the top of the league in the first place is because both Scuthorpe and Bolton had similar poor results. It happens. Luckily we've got a week off now to try and put things right again

Who's been singing their praises? Can't be for their defensive work. I rate JOC and Wright of our centre halves and that's it.

God forbid we actually get worried after a few defeats.

No. A few long range efforts that were either blocked, tame or over hit but that's about it. We should've had a nailed on penalty though where the ref put his whistle to his mouth but couldn't go through with blowing the fucker for some apparent reason.

A few weeks ago, we had almost caught Scunthorpe on goal difference, now we are back at 19 for us and 27 for them.

My main concern is our defence. Jake Wright not getting off the bench, Basham charging forward and leaving Coutts to try and defend.

In the last few weeks nobody but before that everyone was.

You only rate JOC and Wright? Who was it you were talking about when you said "he's plenty good enough for this division"?

I didn't realise opinions on players couldn't change... my bad.

But that's my point entirely. When we were winning our defenders were the bees knees (you even started a thread yourself calling EEL 'top drawer') but just a few poor results later and you want them all replacing. They don't turn into poor players overnight.

Edit: And the thread you started on EEL, calling him 'top drawer', was 16 days ago. Has he become a poor player in 2 weeks?

Just shows how wrong most of our fans can be.

A few weeks ago it was "come on board show some ambition, sign up EEL, we can make him the bedrock of our defense for years, he's out of contract, just offer Wolves £500,000 and make him one of our best paid players"

The Wolves fans were laughing at us for getting carried away about their defender who they rate as good but very raw with loads to prove and loads of weaknesses.

I didn't realise opinions on players couldn't change... my bad.

But when Webster has a few poor games you'll be saying pay off his contract and buy someone else.
In the meantime we're getting deeper and deeper into debt using next years budget this year. Then when Wembley hardly spend anything next year no one will be reasonable and accept we gambled and overspent the previous year. Everyone's will be saying it was madness to buy Webster.

The decision to keep or send back EEL was about 2 weeks.
Almost ALL our fans would have voted to keep him for the rest of the season.
Indeed many were gutted that he extended his contract at Wolves and wanted us to put most of our finances towards signing him up and making him one of our best paid players.

Shows how fickle this business is. One week you're the greatest (give him a massive pay rise) and next minute you're a liability (get rid).

We've made our bed and now we have to lie in it.
Also let's be fair, at league 1 level EEL still have some massive strengths and can help us win promotion.
He's had a poor last 3 games, so his confidence will be taking a hit, but let's see if he can bounce back.

Once a defender loses confidence it can absolutely kill them, add to the fact coincidentally that since he signed his new contract he's been very poor. He seems to have lost confidence and yesterday won't have helped. We must have some money left in the pot after selling Che and DCL and hardly reinvesting. Why take a chance on him rediscovering that, and Basham suddenly learning how to defend, when we could buy a ready made one that we were interested in in the summer? When we still had the same amount of CB's that we do now, may I add.

I've never said to send him back, fuck me, talk about OTT.
We were interested in Webster in the summer, we still had the same amount of defenders as we do now.

I don't think he's our weakest link at the back, I think Basham is. But Webster as a defender is better than both. We need to stop conceding goals.

I am not overly worried, but concerned that Jake Wright can't get in the team. Is he injured? The defence is looking as if every time the opposition have a half chance then they score.
FWIW Done needs reinstating up front. He dosen't score, but opens the game up for the others.
Why fix it if it wasn't broken?
Lavary dosen't to appear to have done much wrong and needs persevering with if Done is out of favour up top, and now we have Hanson to throw into the mix.

I wasn't referring to you personally.

I was just trying to give an example that Webster is highly rated and could cost a lot of money.
But if he joined amd had 3 poor games then many of our fans would then be saying "knew all along he was poor. Why did we buy him when EEL is so much better" etc.

Don't write off EEL yet.
The Wolves fans have probably got the right opinion of him.
Said he defnitely has potential, very commanding but always did the occasion blunder for them.
Also said he's good dealing with crosses and should be an asset at league 1 level but as he struggles on the floor dealing with quick tricky forwards they reckon he needs a lot of improvement to be considered a Championship level player. He's still young though and can improve.

Makes me wonder if it's another case of the "just signed a lucrative contract" syndrome.
The number of players who when out of contract show hunger and play really well
Then as soon as they get a derserved reward of a pay rise then their form dips.

So in 16 days he's gone from 'Top Drawer' to terrible?

I've seen a lot of people mention him signing his new contract and it's complete rubbish. Do you really think players don't care about winning?

Didn't see much to write home about from where I was sat. In fact trying to think back not sure I can remember one clear cut chance. But Fleetwood were quick to close us down and in numbers.
btw have you seen the comedy defending for the 2nd goal yet?
