dane,

The problem is there's no financial risk I being a mouthpiece on here - we all do it - but my point was that certain people , with no genuine experience of any kind whatsoever think they are capable not only of running a football club of this size, but of running the management, coaching and contract sides as well.

As I've said, how many on here would risk their savings let alone their families inheritance in pursuit of profit in a football club. I remember WWF's proposal of a fan but out and the defeaning silence that followed it.

Pointing out the obvious failings is one thing, deluding oneself that it's easy and you could do it is another. Delusion of the highest order and no ones has been able to say that statement is wrong.

McCabe has failed miserably and its cost him dearly however wealthy he is. He just can't walk away or stop buying a season ticket or not go anymore. It's not FIFA 16 for the two owners, it's real life.

Agree with all of that. I was just making the point that the performance overall is very poor. McCabe's best chance of arresting the slide is to spend big. It depends how willing he is to do that. If he doesn't, I see no sign of him offering the leadership and know-how to take us forward. No the average fan can't do better but at the same time the average fan does seem to see things that the owners don't and spot the disasters that the owners sometimes amble into (such as the Robson appointment) which is a pretty damning indictment of the competence of the owners.

Of course no one on here could afford to own the club so it's a moot point. Plenty on here do spend a sizeable percentage of their income following the Blades.

And all this talk of inheritance. I'm sorry but if someone is worth £100m for example and the spend half of it, they've still got £50m. They're still rich. When a normal person's business fails, they lose a lot more, relatively speaking. Much like my dad did.
And his lads have been given jobs and a football club to play with. They'll still inherit a lot more than most people do.

McCabe bought the club in order to make money. No doubt. Being United and at a low ebb made it especially attractive, he's failed and it's cost him fortunes.

Watching United is a lifestyle choice. Nothing more. It's not like being a heroin addict and they give you methadone as a substitute. You don't get sent to watch Staveley if you give up on the Blades, just for enough fix to keep you going.

In any event, the main point is there is no financial risk in any of us shooting our mouths about how we could run the club etc.
the "rewards" as fans is winning something, which we haven't been good at for a hundred years not just since McCabe took over. How many SF's for example, did the golden side of the early seventies reach for example?

I've made that point before about the 70s side and I read in the big yearbook/history thing that even then we needed crowds of, I think, around 35k to break even.

But is telling KM how to run the club any different to telling CW who he should sign, what formation to play, how much our players are worth? I couldn't do either job but I think I'd have better chance of running the club than being the manager. I think only the truly deluded really believe they could be a manager or run a huge business empire. Because if you could, you'd probably be doing it.

If you'd got the money and were willing to take the risk of a huge hit yes.
We can all see poor players, generally at least, spot the shysters and those whose legs have gone but we bear no responsibility for signing them, nor any responsibility for paying their wages.

Saying the board has failed miserably in L1 is one thing, accusing them of not trying despite spending millions - currently lost - is ridiculous.

As I've said, not one person had come up with an argument as to why the owners are happy to stay in L1 despite more than one poster claiming it.

You're more negative than anyone the only difference is yours is directed at the fans and others is directed at the board manager players and club in general

That's fine that's what a message board is for to air your views about sufc

You choose to use it as a platform to belittle the clubs beleaguered supporters and others use it to vent their frustrations at perceived shortcomings at the club
utterly laughable
never read such tosh

Brilliant.

..as an argument to why us Blades should not be angry about no promotion from 5 seasons in division 3 is genius BTL.

Foulkesy would be proud.

no was part of a look at promotions relegations

like wednesday fans proudly boasting theyve had more promotions
forgetting of course theyve had more relegations than us conveniently

My memory is fine. One promotion in ten years is pathetic for a club the size of ours. If you think otherwise you have very low standards for it which would probably explain your perpetual misguided optimism. Each to their own.
its how you look at it

we got to the championship po final 8 years ago, got within 90 minutes of promotion , then 8th
5 of the years we were in the championship
you make it sound like its worse than it is
and weve had 3 play off chances in league one
but lets not give any positives

It's the fashion these days to be negative. Everything is doom and gloom
And some people are never happy unless they are complaining, then it becomes a habit.

I suppose it's better to direct negativity, frustration and abuse at a club rather than at your family and friends etc.

Surely it's better to look at the bigger picture.
As long as we show relative ambition (having the biggest budget in league 1) then I'll never complain
Because eventually paying big salaries for the best managers and backing that manager ensures fruition and success.

Picking a manger for Sheff Utd has similarities to picking the England manager.
Both boards bring it at the time the BEST available and explain their logic.
Most fans are happy at the time but when it doesn't work out then it's "I always knew that manager would be shite ,sack the board" etc etc

Quite. I mean who wouldn't view being perennial losing finalists/semi finalists as a positive?

 Wow
