I'm not 100% but I heard it's a loan with an option / obligation.
Roughly 25% of the overall potential deal to be paid up front as a loan fee.
Quite a difference between option and obligation. What’s the terms around that?

Obligation if we stay up, option if we don't?

Talented young footballer. Hopefully he won't decide to play for Algeria or January might not be fun.

Option would probably be a bigger loan fee and smaller end fee, obligation probably a smaller loan fee bigger end fee if that makes sense

The Captain said he’s heard about which is why I asked about a key detail. Where does the option become an obligation? Under what circumstances?

It could be both an option and an obligation depending on the circumstances, for example an obligation if we stay up but we still retain an option on him if we're relegated.

This is hypothetical though, I don't know anything about it myself.

Does anyone know anything about this lad? Assume he’s left footed.

Came through at Le Havre but was snapped up for the Liverpool youth system where he was converted from a winger to a wingback. Was highly rated and on the fringes of their first team but left on a free in 2021 and went to Troyes where he seems to have done well in a poor team. France u21 international but said to be on the cusp of declaring for Algeria, where he was born.

Is he definitely 'on the plane' or if its landed was he on it ?

It's probably a way to sign good players who otherwise wouldn't accept a relegation wage decrease.

We stay up - we sign him permanently for an agreed fee. The player is guaranteed two seasons on (our version of) PL money.
We go down - we keep the option of signing him, probably without a wage decrease. Or we don't sign him, but the player will have shown what he can do on a big stage and his club may get a good, maybe even better, fee from another club and the player's wages would not drop.
