For a tinpot paint final?

Probably a daft question, as i imagine most people would go for the day out. But i dunno. I hate the place. If i never have to go again, it will be too soon. I hate the fact we even play in this stupid competition, it's bad enough having to play these teams in the league. I'd feel embarrassed for us to be in the final. Imagine if we played a pub team like Northampton and actually get beat!

I'm a grumpy old git, I hope we get knocked out so I don't need to make the decision.

No! I hate the place, I hate the whole "small club fans coming to the big city for a day out" bollocks that goes with it and you can shove the stadium up your arse for me.

Shit hole of a stadium in a shit hole of a city, would never make the effort for a play off final again so I guess you know where the paint pot cup falls in my list of priorities.

I shouldn't worry there is no way United's sorry excuse for a team will ever get to the paint pot final.

Yes.... As I'd probably end up kicking myself if I didn't. As much as I say I'll never go, I know ultimately I always will.

Last May was one of the best days Out I've ever had with United (up until 3pm). Sun, friends, Blades.... We'll just forget the bit after 3pm ;-)

No. It's a pitiful competition and I'd gain no pride in us winning it. It's a condescending concession for the fans of small clubs to feel a sense of achievement. I'm embarrassed that we take part in it.

Palace 0-1
Wolves 0-3
Burnley 0-1
Huddersfield 0-0
Newcastle 0-1
Arsenal 0-1

All big days out and 6 defeats with zero goals scored. I'm not turning up to all these then missing the one that we actually score and win in - law of averages says we will score and win the next one. Watching us lose at shithole grounds Stevenage, Wycombe and Franchise last season has to be evened out somewhere along the line.
Of course I'll go, why wouldn't I? I'm a blade.

The Shit Clubs' Cup.

No, I won't go.There's no pride to be taken from winning the trophy that's only there to distract lower division clubs from all the money the top tier is leeching from the game. The Let's Patronise The Little Chaps Cup.

No. I too have seen all the aforementioned defeats that spoiled our days out, and I'm not going to New Wembley to see a half full ground where we once again fail to try. I'll watch it on telly, or go out for a drive, or something, anything else.

We met in the pub at Exeter right?
I'm with you on this one, (although I'd add the 7th to your list) some of the previous posts are more like things wendy fans would say. We are here and if it was to happen I'm no football snob and I'll support my team to the hobnail boot final if necessary.

I've spent a small fortune on those six games, when ticket, travel and other expenses are added up. I'm certainly not spunking the thick end of two hundred quid to watch us play for a new coat of paint for McCabe's shed, and a pat on the head from the FA. Play-off final then yes, despite the previous four disappointments, but Crap Paint Cup? No thanks.

All of us who have been to those games spent small fortunes and I've took the kids as well to 3 of them. Now they're grown up and unable to go to the Lane much, I know they would go to any semi or final anywhere to support their team - (I'm not saying you lack an element of support if you dont go). I just want to see my team win a trophy.

Agree about the concept of the fans' big day out and the patronising c..p spouted by the commentators as well as Wembley Stadium. Hate the place now the twin towers have disappeared into oblivion.

Totally disagree that London is a 'shithole', it's not, maybe Wembley is, but there's so much more than this 'nasty' little suburb. There's more to life than Planet Sheffield.

I knew it wouldn't be long before someone had to throw the "massive" insult around. It's like the S24SU's very own Godwin's Law.

I just want to see my team win a trophy.
Even if it's a "special" trophy for "special" clubs? It reminds me of schools giving out awards to kids who didn't win just because we don't want them to feel left out.

Shut the fuck up Hitler:p

But we are special don't you think?

I'd go, but it wouldn't be an occassion I'd look forward to. As others have said, a visit to Wembley again would be too soon after all the other disappointments.

I'd look forward to a JPT final more than a play-off final. I'd got tot he JPT and enjoy my day. I'm dreading the prospect of a play-off final.

I've said no chance the last two times but ending up spending much more money that I could afford , let's be Reyt your heart pretty much rules your head ( and pocket) on these occasions but I would gladly sacrifice being there to just see us fucking win wether that is on the tellybox or txt updates on the golf course

That's me you see i love my club that much I put my own gratification second , don't tell the Missus :)

Is Godwins law to do with every so often, to show how right he is, some pompous tossface has to mention some law that puts everyone else back in their box?

I don't think I'd go, too many bad days out in the finals and being overseas I save my support for other league and FA Cup games where we don't get 30,000 fans turning out.

The maddest thing about a day out at wembley is that a ticket alone can almost cost a third of the price of a Season Ticket on the Kop.

As for the JPT, I don't see it as anything more than a tin pot cup and I have no passion for it at all. Its not a case of massive syndrome, i just dont think its a priority for us. Does it mean anything to any club?

If he's right, he's right. He's only a pompous tossface to the ones who are wrong.

If you ask me this is a chance to get that Wembley monkey off our back.

Who is going to Coventry? My wife sent me there years ago. Back to the shed this afternoon.

The Shit Clubs' Cup.
but Crap Paint Cup?

Sorry Guys, it's where we are at the moment - get over it!
Are we too big a club to compete in this competition?
Having been to Wembley, Cardiff, Old Trafford, Elland Road, City Ground and St Andrews for Big Games and failed this is our best chance of having a day out at a 'big match' and actually winning something!
When we have players in our side week in week out the likes of Doyle, MacAllister, McMahon, Williams, Porter, Cresswell etc - this is our level - forget previous glories what you see is what we are -A reasonable pub team in a pub league!!!

We are over it. Just explain to us why we need to revel in it.

No. That's why we are in it.

It's not a 'big match'. It's the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final.

Then I'd assume you'd be happy spending a small fortune travelling down to London and watching us compete in the Pub League Cup final against Shithole Rovers, if we really were in a "pub league" (your words - though we were the ones accused of thinking we're bigger than we are and dismissive of the competition).

You'll be dead, come back us a Rhino (twice) before United ever get to any major cup final. And the earth will have melted before we win one!

No if we get to the Painting by Numbers final - go mate. A win, should it happen is a win.
