Cardiff 71 oh what a night, 2nd last game of the season under lights, against our biggest rivals for promotion,l was 12 and it is a clear in my mind now as ever and we smashed em.
I've always wondered is there any footage of the game, God it would be great to see.
I was also 12 - 43k in 3-sided Lane , only bettered by 45k v Manure the following season.
I'd love to see footage but I doubt it exists

I've been at most of the big occasions since 1971 but for me it has to be my first game at the Lane.

17th August 1971, Blades 3-0 Leeds, scorers Flynn, Dearden, and Colquhoun, under the lights with an attendance of 40,725.

I came from Leeds in the back of a van with all the other kids from my street and despite having been taken to Elland Road a few times previously I was the only one rooting for a home win, as I had no enthusiasm or liking for Leeds United.

Elland Road always seemed to be a nasty, aggressive, unfriendly place (nothing changes) and I never felt comfortable there so mainly thanks to Currie and Woodward I had adopted the Blades as my team around 1969.

Bramall Lane under the lights was electric and I started saving my paper round money to come back whenever I could and once I started work in 1974 I became a full, on as many games as I can, home and away Blade.

I would love to revisit that night.

What game would you revisit and why ?

It needs to be in your lifetime, i.e not the cup final v Cardiff in `26 .

You may have been there, or you may have missed it ....

For me .... it's the 5-1 victory v Cardiff City in 1971 - my first full season going to the Lane , i missed that great game because i was too young to go by myself on a Tuesday night , and my Uncle Mick was working nights at Treeton pit (i went to the games with my hero, Uncle Mick, when i first started attending matches) .

What's yours ???
My first season too and I wasn’t allowed to go with my Dad cos it was a night match. We lived about an hour and half away and I assume he must have rang up from a phone box to pass on the good news, because my Mum came and told me the result.

Having said that, Leicester City away 1990.

Imagine my disappointment when opening this thread only to discover that it has nothing to do with the stellar singer and diva legend that is Cher 🤦‍♂️😕

If she could have reached the stars she would have given them all to us too.

Probably the 1979 League Cup Final just so I can turn up and not be one of the only three (probably) people there this time wearing wellies and a thick Parka coat in a near 1000,000 Wembley crowd on an unseasonably warm and sunny March afternoon.

From my view in the BLUT there was a sea of red and white scarves being held aloft in the Kop by the singing fans just after we had scored the first goal. What a sight it was!

Man United 3-3 was a brilliant game and unbelievable atmosphere. The spurs 1-0 when ndiaye scored the winner another favourite of mine.

I've re-read the op and I've transgressed by mentioning the 1925 final 🙄
So....
I'll reiterate and go for the promotion to the 1st Division day at Leicester....
Me and my lads had left the ticket purchase to my Missus and she ignored our order of 'get them early today as they'll go quickly'
Of course, she knew better and did summat else before remembering the ticket request... And, of course once again, they'd sold out by the time she remembered 😡
When we remonstrated, her response was...' you'll not miss owt cos United always fuck it up'
The rest is history....

It still gets mentioned today....
Bert and crew bought tickets direct from Leicester in the seats up behind the goal.

It was supposed to be for Leicester fans only. It didn't turn out that way though, hundreds of Unitedites were up there.

Like so many I go for the Cardiff at home April 1971.

I would like to be transported back to the whole day. As a 15 year old, a few months from sitting my 'O' levels.
What were my experiences of the whole day as I went through school knowing that night was almost make or break for our season?

I can almost imagine that I couldn't concentrate at school with the match on my mind.

Going home and experiencing the anticipation, excitement and nerves as we went down to the ground.

At the end it all worked out well. This was my first experience of us winning something. Nearly 20 years later I experienced a great day at Leicester but Cardiff was something else.

April 27th, 2019.

Sheffield United vs Ipswich Town.

Fleck's corner.

"O'Connell coming in!........that's the one!......forget the maths, the Premier League beckons for Sheffield United!"

That was a weird one, the atmosphere after was very muted leaving the ground because we kind of knew we'd done it but it wasn't mathematically done.

That thing with O'Connell on the half way line having an energy gel then appearing from nowhere to get the goal was brilliant!

Bounce killer derby is the one in recent times I wish I'd been to.
