Would you go to Wembley?

We are over it. Just explain to us why we need to revel in it.

No. That's why we are in it.

It's not a 'big match'. It's the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final.

Then I'd assume you'd be happy spending a small fortune travelling down to London and watching us compete in the Pub League Cup final against Shithole Rovers, if we really were in a "pub league" (your words - though we were the ones accused of thinking we're bigger than we are and dismissive of the competition).

It would be a big match for us as we cannot compete against the footballing giants of the likes of Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, Swansea, Reading, Norwich, Southampton..................................................................................
The Johnstone's Paint Final would be a Big Match for us whether it's against Shit Hole Rovers, The Red Lion or any other Pub team .................................that's McCabe's legacy for you!

Shit hole of a stadium in a shit hole of a city !!!!!!!!

The City of London, a shit hole ?

Did I miss summat ? are we through to the paint pot final ? half you lot do sound like the MASSIVE, last I heard we have a small game at Coventry before we can even think of the next stage, and make no mistake on present form they will muller us.

I'd go, but then Wembley is my local stadium. Well, without our fabulous trips to Vicarage Road that is!

Calm yourself down. This is a thrread about the attendance at a football game. Yoiu need not concern yourself with it. It will doubtless be covered on the radio after which you'll be able to come on here and tell us all where we went wrong.

UTB

Coventry might just solve the dilemma foir us on Tuesday night.

I'm not sure if I would go. Not that I think United are too big for the JPT. It is where we are. Still it would be a tad embarassing to win it. I have been having some banter with a Piggy mate of mine recently and his usual retort is 'I have seen us win something in my lieftime'. I usually rib him and give him the 20 years ago, Micky Mouse cup etc. However if we were to win this (and to enjoy and revel in it) Wednesday fans would tear us apart. Regardless of that, Wembeley is wank. Crap new stadium in the middle of nowhere. Thought the old one was shit and the new one is not much better. I'd much sooner see us play at Old Trafford or even Villa Park (by the reactions on here we might not even fill an allocation there). I object to paying 60-odd quid to sit in a half empty stadium too. The day out in London on the beer is usually fun, but even that is dampended by the fact you know we are not going to win (even score) before the match and then it has happened after.

I would go. Despite my utter resentment of a place where we can't seem to fashion a shot on target, I do enjoy the day out and the atmosphere. It would be good fun to go and watch us play there without caring much for whether we win or not.

The prospect of another playoff final makes me feel nauseous. I said last time that was it and I wouldn't bother again. Since the dust has settled I reckon I would have one more playoff final in me. If we lost that I think I would give up.

that's the spirit :D
and let's face it you will 'all' go if we get there (self included) :D
can't wait for some of the excuses

I can't imagine I'd be turning it down.

Doesn't bother me what competition it is, a win is a win, and a final is a final.

Let's get the right result at Coventry first though before we get too carried away.

Tricky game tomorrow night. They have only lost 1 of their last 8 and won 6 of those. (As with Brentford) We'll be playing a team very much in form.

Absolutely agree Olle, our work will be cut out but I would like to think two late goals to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat would have motivated the lads a fair bit to be up for this one. I would hope so anyway!

I just hope that, given it is a cup game etc, we go out and attack them. It would be nice to see us turn up in the first half too.

I am not going. I have been saying it for years but I mean it this time. After the 6 hours on the motorway, on my own last time I was meeting people there, never again. Its going to be beers, match and BBQ. You're all invited, please bring beer and BBQ food. Oh and a BBQ.

And a t.v

Why anyone would feel 'embarrassed' to win this trophy is beyond me. Because its a tin pot cup full of shit teams? Then surely the embarrasment would be not to win it?

And lets face it guys, it will be the only chance most of us will have of seeing us win a cup competition at the national stadium.

lets just hope it doesn't go to extra time. AND PENALTIES....

The embarrassment would be to give a shit about it, try our hardest, then not win it. The best thing to do would be to use it as an opportunity to give experience to as many kids as we are allowed.

i'd love to see us win something/anything.. mickey mouse cup..egg cup.. anything
the only time we came near was the watneys cup and we lost on pens.. should have bailed right then :D

Thank fook were out of this crappy cup :)
We're out of this 'Crappy Cup' as you put it because we're not good enough to win it!
Let's slate the competition because we aren't good enough to win it!
Face it guys tonight with Cresswell and Cofie up front what did you expect! - Cresswell before kick off spouting that he would be knocking on the managers door demanding a place in the side!
He's too old too slow and not good enough!
As for Cofie - send him back - all the makings of Michael Twiss Mark 2

Actually we're out of this crappy competition because we're not very good at taking penalties. Being that we're on a bit of a wobble at the moment but still held an in-form side at their ground I think it's a decent result. Throw in the appearances of a couple of youngsters and I'd call it a good night.

In fairness I've said since last season that i think its a worthless cup, I have no desire to be in it and I am happy were out so we can get back to the basics of what we're trying to do... get out of this league

Decent evening for me. Out of this shite cup, yet we did ok. Gave a few of the young lads and fringe players a run out. We did not lose and can take confidence that we went to the ground of a team playing well and got a result. Could not give a fuck we've lost on pens. It would have been an uncessary fixture, though may have been good for giving run outs. 3 points on Saturday is much more important.

Whether we have a desire to win it or not - we are in it!
When you are in the Premier League you strive to win all trophies, League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Europa Cup - in the Pub Leagues you only get realistic chances of League and JPT
I do not understand this 'Distraction of a Cup Run' thing!
Football is all about winning, a useful habit to get into!
For people who are spouting we didn't lose we drew - drawing is a habit that gives everyone a false sense of security - every league draw is 2 points lost - people sometimes fail to grasp that!
Last night highlighted that Cresswell is no longer young enough, good enough to be competing even at this level yet we gave him a three year contract, Cofie is not good enough to play at this level - he is way behind Blackman, Miller, Kitson and even Porter - why pay someone to be fifth or six choice - let him go back and spend the money elsewhere on the field preferably wide midfield!

If there is an exclaimation mark engineer on site - I think there may be some maintenance work in the offing...

We have a threadbare squad. If we win a joke cup but because of that miss out on promotion due to injury or fatigue, would that satisfy you?

Nobody is "spouting" anything. People are pointing it out. Using terms like "spouting" to denigrate someone else's argument really only serves to cheapen your own.

Last night also gave opportunities to McFadzean, Chapell, Ironside and a first team debut for Diego. But you can only focus on the negatives?

Nothing wrong with playing the youngsters - it's about time that we started to bring them through rather than pay money we haven't got to loan players who are not good enough to get a gig at their own club.
Not focusing on the negatives just highlighting a couple ie Cresswell and Cofie
A positive for you - at least Ironside had the balls to stand up and take the first penalty!
