Personally think Woodburn will play a big part, plenty of games left, and I'll be disappointed if he goes in January.

I saw that and nearly replied direct....bottom line is...it’s not our job to protect and bring him on for them. He rightly needed to go out and join a club such as ours, because from where I’m stood...he lacks the necessary graft, determination and creativity to make an impact in the championship.....it’s easy when you’ve got Salah and co laying on easy tap ins every week.
I hope he comes good.....but he will need to vastly improve....if not send him back to Liverpool....he can then go to a “development club”....If arrogant, big time Charlie Liverpool fans think our club exists to bring on their young player...think again...We are Sheffield United and get bullied by nobody.

Truth is he’s got to earn his place, and at the minute he’s probably 5th choice now Coutts is on his way back.

Got to say though if I was a Liverpool fan I wouldn’t be overly happy the fact he isn’t playing given how bright his future supposedly is. It’s obvious the lad needs minutes cause I think he could have a decent career ahead of him. Can see him being recalled in Jan and moved on to somewhere he can get game time, which tbh is probably best for all parties.

Hardly - a manager with a knack for building a gem of a side on a shoestring of a budget.

A team that play expansive, entertaining, attacking football - arguably the best in the championship.

No dinosaurs here. The lad is simply having to tackle his first loan stint and any meaningful football in the men's game. He's tasked with stealing a place in a midfield that has been consistently very good for over two seasons now. It's a tall order.

He needs to get his head down, learn from those around him - because right now they are more experienced and frankly better than him. You don't get an automatic start just because you've come from a certain academy.

The shirt is currently Duffy's, and rightly so.

That said, Liverpool have every right to be worried if Woodburn is not even making our match day squad. He was sent to us to develop as a player, and he won't gain much from watching the other lads play. Similarly, we've got every right not to pick him if other options are better. This is one of the dangers of the loan system, and if it's not working out we should send him back in January and get someone else.

Regan Slater hasn't played much for Carlisle, this to me is why loaning out young players to someone in a lower league is fantastic, it shows them that nothing is guaranteed in football, and that talent alone isn't enough. These young lads will learn to work their bollox off if they want to play regularly, and if they don't like that idea it will be a very short career for them.

I’ve said on another thread. We need him to step up. He might get half an hour/ 20 mins on Saturday and if he plays in the Duffy role he can have as much or as little of the ball as he wants. The trouble is when he has come on and has been given the ball he’s looked bang average so far.

The only people that count are the Liverpool coaches that come and watch how we play and realise it’s actually him not performing.

He’s got to be a talent, he’s already impressed enough fans at club and international level, but like I posted on another thread, Klopp said someing about him getting his game back on track in a preseason game, so I suspect this dip started last season and he’s still not come out of it. He’s still only a kid to be fair, I’d love to see him turn it around and force his way into the team.

I think at Liverpool he's seen as a second striker--sort of like the role McGoldrick plays for us at the moment. I suspect Wilder brought him to cover both that role and Duffy's.

The kid is very highly rated at Liverpool, and they're no mugs when it comes to developing young talent. That doesn't mean he's the right fit for us. But you can't loan a highly-rated young prospect from Liverpool to be a squad player, it's just not how it works. Either he gets some time on the pitch or he'll be off.
