Big IF We go down ......He gets a new contract extension and gets us back up ....
Any reasonable Blade would agree I'm sure .......
We win together we lose together simple
Disagree. Call me unreasonable if you want. Contracts are rewarded for success. It's not a success to be relegated from the premier League. Especially when given a fuck tonne of coin in which to cement your place there. Don't want to hear any of this "it's not big in the grand scheme of things" he spent 40 plus million on two strikers, one of which couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo, the other who's had less of an impact than Casper the ghost would.

Tonne of coin ? 🤣

Unreasonable 😉

Hmmm.....CW has done quite well out of contracts during his tenure signing at least 3 new ones, (probably 4, maybe 5) with improved terms and very much deserved i may add.

If we go down and if he stays does his contract have a relegation clause like most of the players no doubt have?

I agree some of his signings have been poor ,however I think he has enough credit in the bank to try and get us back up ..

Agreed. However "your only as good as this season" that's a quote directly from wilder. Regards a new contract. Nah, he shouldn't be rewarded for failure imo. Sets out a bad precedent.

If we don't improve at all and go down with 20 points or less then I think the job to turn it around may be too big.
If we make a fight of it and have a go at teams but still get regulated, I would still want him in charge.
Cmon Gaffer!!!
UTB!

Why the fuck would anyone want him as manager next season if he gets us relegated from the PL this season?

What’s he gonna do? Get us promoted back to the PL and then relegate us again the following season. We don’t want to be a Yo-yo club like Norwich, WBA, Swansea and Reading.

His spending record in the PL has been awful, we literally look shit at the moment and I doubt he’ll turn it round.

If we go down this season, has to be the end for him or were showing him too much respect.

The club comes first, not sentiment for CW and what he’s achieved in the past. Everyone was soon to slam Mark Duffy and Lundstram, CW needs to start taking
stick now, he’s the only one to blame for the shit situation we’re currently in.

Have you tried shooting with a banjo ?

Wouldn't say he is the only one to blame.

So we sack if we go down, who do we get?

I do have to wonder if we’d be seeing posts like this if Wilder was from say London and grew up supporting a London club.

At risk of sounding like Pinchy, things are getting very Bladey Bladeness.

Doesn't matter where he comes from or supports for me, since he came he has turned the whole club upside down.

I'd rather be a yoyo club from Premier League than spend another 6 years in League One.

100% Disagree

Seriously?!

How did he take JoC out for a year?
Wilder got Egan sent off against Villa?
Told Steven’s and Baldock to slack off a bit?
Told board to nob off Hendo and bring in lead boots
All this after nipping over to China to kick off COVID so we don’t get fans in

Any I’ve missed??

On a serious note, I do think he has some blame to carry, but all the above are factors also

In the same way when things are going good we are better then the sum of our parts
When it’s going shit it’s as a result of those same parts failing.

I’d say a yo-yo team is what we’ll become at best. If anyone thinks we’ll stay in the PL for years to come they are probably deluded.

Like Bassett was? On another thread I’m discussing whether we should have sacked him a season and a half after we were relegated from the top flight. I was happy to give him that amount of time and very disappointed that he couldn’t turn it around. I’ll certainly give Wilder that amount of time (caveated, if we don’t win another point by Christmas I reserve the right to change my opinion).

An object lesson on how to antagonise genuine Sheffield United supporters

There is a difference between giving Wilder a chance in the Championship and giving him a new contract when he’s already got another 3 years after this season.

You give out contracts to reward success and protect your biggest assets. If we go down Wilder ain’t going to be getting a better offer than United, so why would we even consider extending past his current 2024 deal?

Sorry, didn’t realise you were talking about giving him a new contract. I agree, no chance, he must have a couple of years left on his current one.

The man deserves all the time he wants, for what he's delivered us and where he's delivered us from.

Could we be doing better this season? Yes.

Could we do better than one of our own? Not a chance. We are beyond lucky.

Sorry, that’s sentimental nonsense.

I wholly support Wilder and believe we will stay up this season. I base that belief on the basis of what our manager and the team he assembled have delivered. And demonstrated last season.

But to say he deserves all the time he wants because he’s “one of our own”??
