Fair points, not sure exactly where I sit on them either.
However, if our keeper and top striker are classed as "not being ready", then Wilder has fucked up there. We really couldn't afford big money signings who we shouldn't expect to deliver today.
This is the point, manure can afford to sweep up £20m kids, loan em out and accept an attrition rate
We can take in a freebie or £1-2m maybe as as future gamble
What we can’t do is spend (in our book) top dollar on this
We could have spent the same £20m on Martinez from Arsenal
We could have brought in cheap but tested option like Krull or Foster
Now I know the sell on value, potential etc but, was our recruitment meeting like
“Right, 3 keepers relegated, one free, one mil maybe, one 20mil. 2 have many years prem experience, one doesn’t “
What about Forster from Southampton?
Could we have asked ManU about Romero?
This is not a post slagging off Ramsdale btw, that’s on a different thread I’m sure!
This is about questioning whether when we lined up 10 keepers in the summer, did we make the right choice?
Can’t see many of the above been on more than £60k, which if we are paying Ramsdale £30k is about £1.5m a year more, small change on the back of a £100m season
