Clarke is 33 and Madine is 27. Clarke has spent his whole career up until this point being frustrating & inconsistent. Madine has potential. Cardiff bought Madine on the back of his performances during the 1st half of the season. My opinion of Madine is that if he put his mind to it, he would be a decent quality 'old style' centre forward. He has many positive attributes, but he also has many negative ones. Premier league quality? Probably not, but certainly good enough for the championship. Can he put his mind to it? That's debatable. Is he worth £6m? Probably not, but let's not confuse 'worth' and 'value'. His value is what he was sold for. Just as Jordan Hugill's is £10m, Vydra's £8m, Grabban's £9m and Assombalonga's £17m. That is the market value of forwards at this level, and having heard of the sums being offered and turned down for League 1 strikers in January, then £4m - £6m is their value range. We can sit around and talk about whether player x or player y is worth the money, but the simple fact is that is what they cost and if we want to replace our front five partially or totally with established, competent sub 30 yr old forwards that is their cost.

Don't beleave we need to spend that much on strikers and I think Wilder wouldn't also.
The wage structure would be out of controlcontrol not Wilder way.It's obvious we have to up our game regarding transfers and wagers but it has to be controlled as Wilder beleave in the team ethic and to have one or two players busting the structure would go against the grain.
If you listened to Wilder post match interview he referred to one way of putting it right ( scoring goals ).Having said that I don't think Wilder would spend upwards of 5 million on a striker,he and Knill would look to develop strikers but not necessarily from the bargain basement as we have done up to now.

If the club owners don't cover the losses incurred as a result of the bills then who does? (note I said owners, as there are two of them)

I put 50% of my disposable income into SUFC too.

Difference is I'm 38 and still have a paper round.

Wilder also made reference to this when being interviewed by RS. He said something like "well there is one thing you can do to address it" when asked about missed chances, which was of course signing better players.

I think the board have let Wilder down. They could have really helped the promotion push in January and instead they gave Wilder peanuts. Hence we only signed players from L1 (bar Wilson). Wilson has promise but it hasnt really worked due to injuries. Leonard wouldnt likely make an immediate impact, given his age and lack of experience at this level (and it has transpired as such). Holmes is in my view a lower league star. Evans is the only one who looks capable right now in the first team.

This was not good enough for a push for the PL. We didnt get in the championship quality to win matches like against Brenford, Forest, Cardiff - especially tight games where a moment of quality really counts.

The tw@ts in the boardroom need to sort out this ownership issue otherwise future progress beyond this season will be hampered.
