Obfuscation alert.
The post was about what we deserve.
We don’t “deserve” anything.
All that has been achieved has been earned on the pitch
All those rewards were not as a result of a wealthy benefactor, they were earned by winning matches.
If you erase that period of football from 2016 onwards then we’d still be in L1 and looking forward to hosting the massive on their way down.
Odd thing to laud above all else.
It’s not been great this season. An understatement. That’s got a hell of a lot to do with the decisions made last summer. But sure, ignore that for now. If we’d have carried on with SeLLLLLLes we’d be doing a Leicester. Who’s to say someone else would have been able to arrest the slide?
Agree. Let's seeI agree with don't "deserve" anything. No team does.
I agree with this as well although your hero was only responsible for one of our periods in the top flight.
Again I agree however that was a decade ago. No one is trying to erase it however there's absolutely no proof whatsoever that we would still be L1 if Wilder hadn't come in at that point. We could have dropped on another manager who could have done even better than Wilder long term and still be having success. Unlikely but you can't say for sure.
And this is where you cement yourself as his biggest cheerleader. There are far too many "Wilder Out" type posts admittedly and it gets tiresome however you jump on every single one with your excuses for him. The fact is when this season ends he will have been in charge for 40 of the 46 games. He's had more than enough time to sort out the fitness issues but hasn't. He was backed in the JTW after we had a decent spell in November/December and, yet again, we had a pretty horrendous, expensive window that somehow made us worse. It's not the 1st time under his reign.
I've said on other threads that I think with where we find ourselves now and the likely financial constraints that he is probably the best man for at least having the summer and starting next season but I really don't hold out much hope based on recent experience of him and think he is now a busted flush.
I genuinely hope I'm wrong and he can somehow go back to how he was circa 2016-2019 but I'd be amazed if he does as he seems to be living in the past and incapable of seeing his own short comings. Proven by the fact that I'm yet to see a single example of him admitting fault for the absolute dog shit we're serving up right now.
