Similar happened at old Trafford with a Denis Law flimsy back heel to send Manchester United down,he never attempted anything during the game and he said I aimlessly back heeled it and it pea rolled into the net. Then we come to Hans Segars….yes that is a great story john mathews was the guilty party that day he had been thumping penalties in all that season as an anecdote i happened to be at swillsborough the night mike doyle struck a similar penalty straight in to the hands of peter grumitt at the kop end of the sty it was so obvious he missed it deliberately and that man city were throwing that game unfortunately for the pigs nobody told ian bowyer who was given a right royal bollocking by tony book when he scored the winner![]()
