A little snippet in amongst an article about Lavery, from the Star:

Brads, in my era, was a great example. He carved out a career here, was a big player for us and a great success. If, like Brads, they stick the lot on the pitch, leave everything out there and have a go, everything else goes out of the window. I believe Lavs will do that for the team and us.”

If we didn't know already, it gives a bigger insight into what Wilder expects from his team. If we get anywhere near the performances we saw from Bradders, then we will have side that will be committed, at the very least. Isn't this one of the biggest complaints we had last season (and seasons before), that players didn't care.

If Wilder can get these players committed and playing in the way that Wilder himself and Bradshaw used to play for us, then we're halfway there. If we also get some decent football as well, even better.

This. I also think that Ebanks-Landell will become a cult hero somehow. Let's embed that culture

Yeah i think so too. With so many changes this year its difficult to see the characters yet, but i do get the feeling that those characters will start to come out as we progress through September to December.

One thing that I loved after the Oxford game was the interview with Knill, he was almost taken aback by the atmosphere in the second half as we chased the game. Wilder will have been drilling this into the players all summer and it will have been difficult for them to comprehend what it can be like at the lane, but Knill's reaction shows that they will start to see this if they are committed.

Players like Ebanks-Landell, Lavery, Jake Wright and Harry Chapman could well be fans favourites

The relief when we came from behind at Oxford (tap in there for you LYDON) was incredible. A real roar like the old days.

Bert can see our new man Coalman Lavatory becoming a legend.

It's tough love

Nothing better.
No Siree, Bob...
United... the body of Raquel, the face of Sirrel.
How tough has it been?

You bet.
Ten rows down from the back of the Kop and you could hear the audible signs of sheer pleasure as we all exploded as one.
Fan-tas-tic....
A sight for sore-eyes...
Truly.

Genuine LOL moment.

I have decided I`m going to resurect the legendary Ugo Eggnog chant in honour of EEL.
Just need to adapt the lyrics, which so far is proving a tad difficult.

Hope it's all cisterns go with him.

To become a legend he needs to work his rocks off , score goals and we succeed with promotion.

Anything less and he could become a broken flush . We are a forgiving lot but patience we don't possess after 6 seasons in league 1 and broken dreams .

Fella will do well . Wilder has done some good business in a very volatile market .

I am sure Bradshaw can come out of retirement for us.
I'm sure he'd love to be playing again. It's not so long ago he was playing in the Premiership and as far as I know he's now a builder. Nothing wrong with being a builder at all but it just seems so wrong that he's working his bollocks off after he gave everything for our club and there are players who don't give a crap about us and still get paid stupid money and probably won't ever need to work past the age of 35. How things have changed and not for the better. Keith, Dane and Bradders 3 heroes for me and all having to work hard when rubbish players can now command £10k a week just doesn't seem right to me

Count himself fortunate that he's never had to cut up the fish fingers on a Saturday morning in December.

A quality.....

ya know who I mean.

I didn't see much to be encouraged about vs. Oxford. There wasn't much in terms of cohesion, much less in terms of expansive play/flowing football or any hint of a style.

But what I did see was glimmers of a side that looks like it is starting to understand how to grind out results. That alone got us a win from the jaws of defeat last Saturday.

If Wilder can remind us fans what that feels like, he will have the fans on his side. The cup competitions have always been a catalyst for us, I would love another Clough/2014 or Warnock/2002.

Hopefully his career won't go down the pan.

He might build a new wall in the car park for usUOTE="Diamondlife, post: 1102660, member: 14136"]I'm sure he'd love to be playing again. He doesn't have to work his bollocks off ,but he does because that's in his character ,grafter on and off the pitch ,mind you he will be pissed off when I tell I need a new patio next week :)
