I can see your point but for me it just raises more questions and concerns about next season.

On one hand I think it’s good Wilder has a plan for next season and the players apparently know where they stand, however… the squad that’s been at his disposal is better than the results we’ve turned out and that is a concern for next season.

It seems unlikely that we’ll have some of the ‘key’ players from this season and will again have to wheel and deal, and based on the last few years, I’m not confident we’ll have a squad anywhere near strong enough to compete.

The final third of the season (and perhaps beyond) has been woeful, and much of that has been down to tactics.

His plan for next season will be to sign old trusted pros and stifle the development of younger players that we need to improve and sell on just to keep the finances stable.

For a squad like ours that has lost 30 points from winning positions what do you base the success of the season on? If it is survival we are setting ourselves a low bar, that has been a goal in the Premier League every time we have been there. Tonight Blackburn had something to play for we didn’t however those 30 dropped points puts us in 2nd well clear and if in theory that would have happened if we would have won tonight that would have promoted us automatically. This season hasn't been a success. Far from it.

The bar at the start of the season was top 6. That was the target.

After Selles was sacked it was still hopeful of top 6 but first to get us out of the relegation battle.
Even after Wilder took charge I didn't feel performances started to really turn a corner till Wednesday away.
That's 16 games in. And we were still in the relegation zone at that point.

As the season has gone on its clear that yes we have some quality in the squad but also some real dross.

A great deal of the crap this season does point to 14 or so players in last summer of which most barely any start games for us. And it's not like when we see them they look good.

Wilder doesn't get a free pass. Tonight was poor and that first half was utter gash. Had he been here since the season started and he recruited this lot.
Then I think changing manager would be a fair and wise choice. As it is, I remain to be more balanced and think to give him a crack and re assess.

We're slowly sleepwalking our way back to League One.

You can feel the general apathy and disinterest permeating throughout the club.

When everyone in our section of the South stand is actually laughing out loud and taking the piss out of our manager and players there is probably something not quite right. They were a laughing stock in that first half, so shite and clueless it was funny.

I think it’s broader than that. It feels like the club is in decline and that is on the owners, the manager and the players. If the owner want to change that trajectory, then some difficult decisions need to be made.

The problem is, it will happen when he leaves as well. Some are just too wedded to Wilder and can’t see any fault.

I’m of the opinion that he’s probably the best person for the job, mainly because to get rid of him would require a serious departure in how we operate, and I don’t think those in charge have the slightest idea where to start.

Arguments, now turning into debates with my sons on the Wilder issue (I call him Mr Smith to take the emotion out of the debate).

They say it’s the players not performing. My counter it is Mr Smiths (the managers) job to get them performing.

But they’re not his players. Some are some aren’t but it’s still his job to get them playing.

Got to give him until Christmas. So, uncertain he’s the man, let him spend the limited budget on more journeymen and projects then sack him when we are in the bottom half of the league. Then what? Bring in a new man with no budget to get Mr Smiths purchases to perform for the new guy?

They now concede the key problem is Wilder (Mr Smith), by keeping us up (thank you it was your job) has become bigger than the club.

I don't think it is. I think we have some quality to get us through games, even put a good run together for a while, but there's some utter dross in it.

Players like McGuinness and Chong. There's a reason they got relegated last season. Bindon will be a good player, possibly at a level above this, but he isn't ready. Cannon is an awful footballer and I'm not even sure he belongs in the Championship. Davies is getting credit for being better than the disaster we expected when in reality he's weak backup on a good day. Rothwell is exactly what we were warned about by his last club. Tanganga is the new Robinson - every time I start to defend him he does something awful.

Some of these aren't Wilder's fault. Some are. But mostly they've been carried by the players that are good enough, and they aren't good enough to compensate for it over the course of a season.

Just sat through 94 minutes of evidence as to why Wilder should be sacked.

First half was at or below the levels of those under Selles, Adkins, Heath and Weir.

Second half slightly better, while CW carried out his right arm up, left arm up, bawling at the players and occasionally turning to Knilly routine.

The ground from 75 minutes said it all. We're back to the belief levels we had in the two PL embarrassment seasons, but now in the championship.

I think you'll find that's a fairly common feeling amongst most football fans.

It's only in the strange world of S2 that having achieved something for the club leads to ridicule and sneering from sections of the fanbase, and ludicrous short-sighted calls to replace proven, competent managers with unproven gambles.
