You don't have to keep qualifying it with "my opinion" as it's clearly your opinion and you're allowed it. But if you post it on a discussion board, it's up for discussion. You seem to be a bit tetchy about discussing it, and there's really no need.As I said, I chose to use the word decent. It reflects the work that Wilder and others have done, under his direction, in order to prepare them individually and collectively. Without going into the work I assume has been done, compiling lists of players, positions and characteristics required. The targets may have been identified by Wilder, Knill or the new head of recruitment and his staff.
Presumably the owner sets the budget, and Wilder has the final say. While this is not the first time Wilder has been asked to recruit on a budget, it is his most recent time, and he may or msy not have chosen to work with New year recruitment staff! Hence my choice of words is deliberately cautious, as it is my opinion and no one elses. Decent, reflects my opinion and it will only change if others present facts to the contrary.
A couple of reasons why he isn’t tied down for longer in my opinion:Hard to kick on anywhere else as he’s been with us majority of his time above league one bar about 50 games.
We are the only club probably in the world with a manager who’s top of the division with 6months left on his contract.
Maybe we are just setting the trend ? Or maybe we are just poorly run.

On that note, given the budget, what would you argue could have been done better?
My opinion is that, in itself and with the budget, the rebuild could hardly have been better and so it's been excellent.
I believe it’s important to differentiate facts from opinions, because a number of readers seem to be confused by the difference. You clearly don’t do that, but it’s still important for me to make clear that some of my post includes my opinion, and should be treated as such. You don't have to keep qualifying it with "my opinion" as it's clearly your opinion and you're allowed it. 'doing ok'?I believe it’s important to differentiate facts from opinions, because a number of readers seem to be confused by the difference. You clearly don’t do that, but it’s still important for me to make clear that some of my post includes my opinion, and should be treated as such.
I use the word decent, because that reflects my opinion, and I justify why my opinion is different to yours. I will always be cautious with praise, when I feel my opinion justifies it. We are both entitled to an opinion, and mine differs from yours in my choice of wording. I can live with that.
Regarding the budget, no one can be sure exactly what it was. Maybe Wilder was asked to consider other players and did not think they were good enough? Maybe not and he ran out of money? No one knows.
The rebuild, for now is incomplete. Surely no one would choose to make such wholesale use of unproven, inexperienced academy players, (Arblaster excepted)? They have proven to be very useful, but prone to inconsistency, IMHO.
Wilder and the squad is doing ok, for now, especially after the Cardiff result and performance. I am by nature pessimistic, so I tend to err on the side of caution. We probably have different opinions on this?![]()
A planet where it's all his opinion and in his opinion his opinion is correct in his opinion so sort from his honest opinion is must be correct!!'doing ok'?
We are top of the league pal - lost two games all season and gone 9 games at home without conceding.
What planet are you on?
ALan Knill aswell
There really isn't!No pleasing some folk
I’m on that planet where performances also have a value?.'doing ok'?

Loving the irrelevant sarcasm. Thank you.A planet where it's all his opinion and in his opinion his opinion is correct in his opinion so sort from his honest opinion is must be correct!!
There’s absolutely no rush with the contract.Loving the irrelevant sarcasm. Thank you.![]()
Out of interest, what more could Wilder have done to be doing a “good” job of the rebuild so far? Or even a “great” job so far?I did say ‘so far’. I chose the word ‘decent’ because others will probably have been involved in it. Anything else is another opinion, and not mine.
Don’t forget we are now in the championship.I believe yesterday was Wilder's 50th game in charge since he returned last December.
W19 D10 L21
He's done an incredible job of turning this team around from the horrors of last season.
There’s absolutely no rush with the contract.
Chris has stated that he’d stay for life, and there are no clubs banging the door down for him.
The top three/ four is exactly where we should be given the squad we have, we have sold players but are one of the biggest spenders in transfer fees and salaries in the division.
Each game we take to the field, we have normally a minimum of 7/8 players who have played in the premier league.
The starting eleven yesterday had eight.
We have a combination of youth and experience.
The focus from the new owners should be promotion first and then take a look at who would be the best person to lead us in the Premier League.
We need to stay in there and consolidate, somehow.
Called it in AugustWe need to get him a new deal ASAP.
We seem to be having a love in from Sky which is unusual and Wilder’s names seems to be spoken about in high regard across England.
I believe his contract is up at the end of the season. Needs to be sorted as a priority.
