I am pleased about this , following relegation from The Premier League with so many goals conceded I feared we may do what Luton "did" , the turn round was very good with pushing Leeds & Burnley , following the defeat at Wembley to Sunderland I was confident that last season would be a top finish, not just a Play-off with the rebuild half way complete ,,,,then ,,, last Summer happened ,,, I do feel that knocked us back so much ,, so it's like another reset now ,, I can't imagine us getting promoted this season I genuinely feel it a 2 year task and can therefore delighted Wilder has been given longer ,,

Sad cunt 🤣 actually hope you’re either Chris or one of his close mates, otherwise you’re even more fucking sad that it already seems 🤣🤣
No need, no need. I'm not Chris, I'm not one of his mates, I'm also rather non-committal one way or another on his current efforts. However, I do find the eye-popping madness of the anti-Wilder brigade rather disturbing and damaging.

Oh, and you're reported. No need to get personal (unless it's directed at the Pork Brigade, in which case it is fully justified).

The laughter emoji. Apart from it showing an immense lack of intelligence, may I ask why? And why six of them? And I'm the sad one, apparently.
I’d explain, but you might report me to the forum police again and I don’t want to risk it.

Pathetic.

No point in reporting you again. Once will be enough. Of course, you could DM me your reasons, or even find me at the next match and tell me how you feel directly. I am approachable and easy to find.

Have your parents/guardians not warned you about the dangers of meeting strangers from the internet?

Why the rush? Nobody is coming in for him and what if we are bottom at Xmas? A bit like extending Tuchel prior to the World Cup.
We’re going to be signing players on deals that last 2 and 3 years.

It’s not ideal for the manager to be selling to them his plan for them and the club when he’s only committed to the project for a single year.

Whether you are a fan or not, if he’s considered the right incumbent at the moment by the Board then having him with a year to run could hamper recruitment.

If a player is coming to play for him then if he’s not here in a year they may not agree to come.

It just offers security all round. It’s 2 years. It’s hardly a banking busting 10 year deal like they have Porterfield.

Great news hes not perfect but who is!.Puts the club first! I dont think any coach could do better at this stage.!
I prepare to be shot down!!
Would be interesting to know whether the Wilder out brigade are blades or not! easy on this site to masquerade as a Blade.Wilder is a life long true blade and I trust him to put the club first..
Could there be a way to shut these pigs out! Season ticket maybe? This could be shown to the site owners not obviously Shown on here.
Nothing wrong with questioning the owners and Wilder but there is a right way to do it and shutting pigs out would be a good start to clean things up !

Whether we are pro or anti Wilder there can't be any doubt that this coming season is crucial for him. Question is has he got or is he going to get the tools to do the job.

Anywhere near you say? Well on Betfair where the market is the combined view of all punters we are 7th favourites to win the league. So the "weight of money" is saying we should make the play offs.
What does it say about winning the playoffs ?
Or is it laughing too much to speak ?

All this pro or anti talk… Can people not just be somewhere in the middle?

Or does the internet have to be so polarising all the time?

I think it’s a poor decision because we’ve yet to see anything that suggests he deserves a longer deal. That doesn’t mean I dislike Wilder or want him sacked, it just means I’d rather wait and see before getting ourselves in another situation where there’s a big pay off due, for the third time.

I doubt players are signing for the club now based on Wilder being the manager. It’s not 2019/20 now.

They've got their desperate patsy.
Betti's keeps his mate.
And we can forget any kind of progress :
In style of play
In coaching
In recruitment
In anything really.
Forever little old parochial Blades.
Living off a handful of seasons in the 60 years of my support , when we thought "this could be it !"
And then it wasn't.

I would like some positive statements to be honest. Like we've sold x amount of season tickets, times are good, we have some good recruitment inbound, we aren't losing good players, we are developing Dore, we have major plans in the fire for this, that and the other.

It's easy to do stuff like this, all they have to do is tell us.
You mean lie to us ?

A depressing amount of Wilder hate on here. Meanwhile in the real world his name will be sang loud and proud at Bramall Lane next month against Birmingham. Best manager we've had in a generation regardless of whether he's made mistakes over the 10 years since taking over in league one.

This place is an echo chamber of Wilder vitriol. Keep screaming into the void

Unfortunately, this is very reminiscent of the FA giving Thomas Tuchel a contact extension before the World Cup... look how that turned out. Seems very blindsided to not let the season play out before offering a contract extension.

I don;t think it was really needed and does indeed suggest our owners are clueless and certainly won't be making any major investment. Even as a Wilder supporter, it seems a bit pointless.

On the bright side, the Children's Hospital should do really well, from picking up all the thrown out toys,

Players >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Managers

I wonder if United are the only club who seem to attach 100% of success or failure to someone who doesn't even play

We're in an aircraft holding pattern, going nowhere, around and around.

Save some strange blip either positive or negative that nobody can predict we're resigned to being another PNE or Bristol City.

Oddly, or maybe I'm just cynical, this is a relief. I don't think we're likely to go down with the collection of soon-to-be-legends-charity-players that will be collected, but we're even less likely to find ourselves in the Premier League. We have nowhere near enough finance or imagination for that as has already been proven in more go-ahead times.

As I don't think I could take another season of the weekly disembowellings that promotion would entail, I'll accept Championship mediocrity.

Maybe, most likely by sheer dumb luck, the club could hit upon a formula that may carry us forward where there's some hope we can be competitive at a higher level as we stupidly thought we might be in 2019.

Till then we're in the holding pattern. Eventually someone will have to take hold of the controls and bring the bloody plane down. Careful they don't crash the fecker.

Nice to have it confirmed that our American owner are clueless, maybe rather than handing out unneeded contract extensions they should be focusing on paying the £35m that they owe the Prince for the sale of the club. To me giving Wilder a longer contract is just a distraction to get the "punters"on side and deflect from the fact they are struggling to both pay for and run the club after their plan fell to pieces in the play off final.

On a positive note the new away shirt is a cracker which is just about the only good news coming out of Bramall lane this summer so far.

It is possible to be against this extension without eye popping madness as you describe, and ultimately you’ve highlighted why some on here don’t welcome this news.

Wilders reappointment HAS divided the fanbase, and made people resort to petty shots on both sides.

I was against him coming back, and an extension to that contract doesn’t change my mind.

Does that mean I hate him and everything he’s previously done? No. It does mean however that I had concerns in the 92pt season, and despite being in charge for the vast majority of last season there were clear signs that his ā€œsparkā€ had gone. We made every team look like prime Barcelona, and despite a run of a few results in the middle, we were largely clueless.

It’s not all down to him obviously, and he steadied the ship somewhat, but those issues remain this season as to which he is a part of.

We’ve reverted back to type when the Selles experiment failed, despite him having a total of six games in charge. Promotion last season was unlikely after the start, but our season was buried with ten games to go.

We’ve now shipped out a developing player in Brooks, another who is rumoured to have some sort of issue with CW and vice versa behind the scenes.

It’s rinse and repeat and hope for the best, and it’s neither exciting or inspiring to look ahead to another now three seasons to see what happens.

But let’s not tarnish everyone with the same brush that wanting a fresh approach somehow means we’re against the club as a whole.

I don’t want the club to fail and will support them regardless, but news like this reinforces that our owners are terrified of making the wrong decision. They’ve looked at last season, now we’re arguably weaker and said ā€œyep, that’ll doā€.

As for CW, he doesn’t need to do too much. If he succeeds, great, if he fails he’ll get a larger payout until they come back again next time around.

I think the opposite.
I think it's the perfect time to come out with a statement of intent, backing their manager. The response to the FAB questions was exactly what we needed to hear. Now, the only question remains for me is the transfer window. They need to follow these positive steps up with some signings that are exactly what we need.
