CONFIRMED Wilder contract extension

I would like some positive statements to be honest. Like we've sold x amount of season tickets, times are good, we have some good recruitment inbound, we aren't losing good players, we are developing Dore, we have major plans in the fire for this, that and the other.

It's easy to do stuff like this, all they have to do is tell us.

How long did he have on his deal? Was it up this summer?

It’s a “meh” from me.

I hope he can get us playing some decent football and winning more than we lose, but with some of the players we have it might be a struggle. Some of them he’s signed, others were signed last summer.

He’s still got a bit of an excuse whilst they aren’t all his players, but I hope he doesn’t have to use excuses and that we just start being good again.

The Wilderites and Wilder haters will no doubt dominate the discourse on this thread and it will soon become the same as others, shame really.

I like Chris, he's given me my best times as a United fan. However, those times were a while ago now.

I'm just not sure this extension was necessary.
He didn't actually do particularly well last year and his signings haven't been great.

If Wilder is still here in 2028, I can't imagine the club will be where I'd like it to be.
Again, nothing against Chris Wilder, it just doesn't feel like a progressive move...

I'd love to know how this deal came about. What triggered the need?

I'm really sorry but where is the statement about this, the statement that says this is positive? Something lookin forwards, something bringing on young talent, something that says we will buy cheap and sell for profit?

In the 5 seasons outside the impossibly under funded Premier League seasons, even with the initial league 1 rebuild, and last seasons shocking start due to the crap squad he inherited, our average finishing position under CW has been 3.8 (1st, 10th, 2nd, 3rd, 13th)
Means nothing to some on here. We finished with 92 points and still the minority wanted him out. Realistically would that happen at any other club?

Agree with the sentiment but the majority it would seem are just waiting and hoping for him to fail. Anywhere near the play offs this season with this squad and no money would be a masterstroke. If anybody can he can.
Not the majority of Blades in the real world, just the majority in this cesspit.

It’s a bit of red meat to get fans off their backs after the last couple of weeks and the usual names have fallen for it hook line and sinker.

when he doesn’t perform he’ll be sacked, 12 month contract extension or not.

No doubt he’ll be delighted that’s he’s increased the payoff he’ll get when he’s sacked before Christmas. Utterly ridiculous decision by the board and further evidence that they haven’t got a clue what they’re doing…

Fans always have different opinions but at least none of us rinse the club to boost our own finances and egos like this prick.

Sure all his fanboys will lap up another 3 years of dinosaur football and tell us how much they love the championship cos he’s “one of our own”.

The arrogant cunt shouldn’t be anywhere a professional football club in 2026, it’s utterly embarrassing.

The sooner he fucks off and takes all his mates with him the better. The club will never progress with him around.

We have some proper dick-wads in our fanbase. The good news is, they've all gathered together in this one thread for easy reference. (And a special prize to whoever comes up with the tap-in reply)

Oh, and someone tell Zero Pork Nobface it's our Forum so he can go and get f&cked (I have no idea what he's posted, but I can see that he HAS posted, and that's enough for me to guess he thinks he can have a say in things that shouldn't trouble his single-figure brain cells).

Thank... no, can't be arsed now.

I think United just need some stabilty right now and whilst he has his flaws, CW is what we need atm. It also means that potential signings know he is here for at least a couple of years and they wont be signing and then a change of boss within a small period of time. Helps sell the club.

Some wont be happy, and i understand that, but...for the reasons already stated, im happy enough with this.
Agreed and solid outlook.

Like I’ve said a few times, my faith in Wilder is pretty low right now, but stability is important and he has earned another crack at it. Give him the full season and see where we’re at.
