It would be weird seeing the words 'Jermain Defoe joins Sheffield United on loan', but stranger things have happened and I suspect Mr Wilder left an ace in the hole when he agreed to sell Brooks to Bournemouth.

Also if Dowell was at the game today I would hope that he has seen enough to convince him that joining us would be a good short term move. Firstly, seeing an attacking stylish team in that atmosphere but also as Duffy had a slight off day he might just see an opening for himself?

If I'm honest then yes, I probably have, not defending him, just saying that either way, he clearly won't reveal who 'told him'. It's quite a specific thing to say, so if it turns out to be utter bunkum then you can rinse him to your hearts content.
Even if someone on here said 'I know Wilder well and he told me that xxxx is 100% signing tomorrow', I would take it with a pinch of salt. But even in these circcs it's doubtful that the source would be revealed. Just saying.....

I really hope these 2 signings come off.

We would still need a powerful, pacy striker in my opinion but the 2 mentioned would be a cracking start. Dowell would provide competition for Duffy and being left footed might be able to step into Fleck's role as and when required. Defoe would just add serious quality, even if only used sparingly.

Think we are ok across the rest of the field.
